Can, could, will y shall (y en E.U.A should también) e usan para ofrecer, sugerir y pedir cosas:

Can I help you?Coauld you open the door, please?Will you stay for tea?Shall w ego out for a meal?

Permiso

Can y could se utilizan en presente y en pasado para expresar permiso para hacer algo:

Can I go now?Could I possibly borrow your car?You can come if you want.

En presente también se pueden usar may y might, pero son más formales:

May I use your phone?Books may only be borrowed for two weeks.Might I make a suggestion?
