Kerala has the largest floating solar power plant that would generate 7.5 lakh units of power annually which will be fed to the grid using underwater cables. Clearly, solar is across India. At REINVEST 2018, there will be at least 15 Indian states participating as partners, sponsors or exhibitors. There will be 8 ses- sions dedicated to states where they will showcase their policy initiatives and immense potential of generating clean energy by increasing the share of renewable energy in the current energy mix. A Chief Ministerial Plenary will also be organised to highlight the state- specific achievements and discuss the way forward. On Day One at REINVEST, specific ses- sions will be organised focusing on the states of Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh to touch upon key points on the policies and incentives of the respective states which makes them one of India’s most attractive states for renewable energy investment. The Government of Uttar Pradesh declared the Solar Energy Policy 2017 with the main objectives of encouraging private investment for setting up solar energy-based power generating plants in the state; support in providing envi- ronment friendly and affordable power to all; and promote Research & Devel- opment, innovations and skill develop- ment in the state. Similarly, the Government of Himachal Pradesh is looking forward to harness the untapped hydro potential that ex- ists in the Himalayas. Nestled in the northern region of India, it is blessed with abundant water resources in its five major rivers – Chenab, Ravi, Beas, Satluj and Yamuna, which flow through the state and can be exploited for power generation.
