Dear parishioners,The six holy water fonts, sanctuary lamp and ablution cup are
refinished. The items were sent off and the metal was cleaned and a special sealant was applied so that the luster would remain for a long time. The two holy water fonts formerly inside the main entrance of the church were placed in the narthex so that everyone who enters the church from the main doors would able be able to see the fonts and receive holy water before entering the church. The fonts were also raised to be more accessible and the stone wall was prepared so that these items would fit more securely. The sanctuary lamp received a new glass covering which is thinner and so the flame is more easily seen against the bright lights that shine on the altar area. And, the lid for the ablution cup was gold plated. In our parish, we have preserved the practice of using the ablution cup so that the Eucharistic ministers may remove any traces of the host that remain after giving Communion.
These improvements help to convey our deep reverence for the Body of Christ. Our Altar Society sponsored this project. The members work throughout the year to launder the sacred linens, clean the altar area and provide adornments and necessary items for the Mass.
Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus is the patron saint of Altar Societies. She served as a sacristan in the Convent of Lisieux.
O God, you inflamed with the Spirit of Love the soul of Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus, grant that we too may love you and make you loved more and more. Amen.

Dear parishioners,Our Diocese, the Diocese of Austin is blessed with many voca-
tions to the priesthood. An important part of the formation of these young men on the way to Holy Orders is the pastoral assignment. Our parish is blessed as acknowledged by our Bishop Vasquez to be an excellent place for a seminarian to receive experience from the local parishes of the Diocese. Deacon Brian Phillips will soon receive Holy Orders and join the ranks of the priests of our Diocese.
This Saturday, May 20th, a new class of transitional deacons is ordained. Deacon Paul-Michael Piega is assigned to our parish of Santa Cruz for the year that remains until his ordination to the priesthood. He is a seminarian at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, which is also my alma mater, and he will be away from our parish during the academic year but he will return upon occasion to resume his diaconal assignment here.
I truly appreciate the welcome all of the parishioners of Santa Cruz give to the seminarians that receive their pastoral assignment here. Please continue to welcome in a prayerful spirit these young men who will always remember us in prayer for the kindness they were shown in their years of formation.

LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR/CARTA DE NUESTRO PARROCO
Queridos Feligreses,Los seis recipientes de agua bendita en las entradas de la Iglesia, la lám-
para del santuario y el tazón de ablución han sido retocados. Los artículos fueron enviados para limpiar el metal y aplicar un sellador especial para que el lustre permanezca por mucho tiempo. Los dos recipientes del agua bendita que anteriormente estuvieron dentro de las entradas principales de la Iglesia, se han colocado en el nártex para que todo aquel que entra a la Iglesia por las puertas principales puedan ver estos recipientes y recibir agua bendita antes de entrar a la Iglesia. Estos receptáculos se elevaron más para que estén más a la vista y más accesible. También se recibió un vidrio más delgado nuevo para la lámpara del Santuario para que así se vea más contraste con las luces que brillan en el área del altar. Y la tapa del tazón de ablución fue chapeado en oro. En nuestra parroquia, hemos conservado la práctica de usar el tazón de ablución para que los ministros de la Eucaristía puedan eliminar cualquier rastro de la hostia que permanezca después de la Comunión.
Estas mejoras ayudan a transmitir nuestro profundo respeto por el Cu-erpo de Cristo. Nuestra Sociedad del Altar patrocinó este proyecto. Los miembros de esta Sociedad trabajan durante todo el año lavando los lien-zos sagrados, limpiando el área del altar y ofreciendo adornos y artículos necesarios para la Misa.
Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús es la patrona de las Sociedades del Altar. Ella sirvió como sacristán en el convento de Lisieux.
Oh Dios, con el Espíritu del Amor como lo hiciste con el alma de Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús, concede que también podamos amarte y agrandar el amor a Tí más. Amén.”

Queridos Feligreses,Nuestra Diócesis, la Diócesis de Austin ha sido bendecida con muchas
vocaciones al sacerdocio. Una parte importante de la formación de estos jóvenes, hacia el camino a las Sagradas Órdenes, es la tarea pastoral. Nuestra parroquia ha sido bendecida al ser reconocida por nuestro Obispo Vásquez como un excelente lugar para que un seminarista reciba la experiencia de las parroquias locales de la Diócesis. El Diácono Brian Phillips pronto recibirá las Órdenes Sagradas y se unirá a las filas de los sacerdotes de nuestra Diócesis.
Este sábado, 20 de mayo, una nueva clase de diáconos transitorios será ordenada. El Diácono Pablo Michael Piega se asigna a la parroquia de Santa Cruz por el año que le queda antes de recibir su ordenación sacerdotal. Él es un seminarista en el Colegio Pontificio Norteamericano en Roma, que también es mi alma mater, y estará lejos de nuestra parroquia durante el año académico, pero volverá en ocasiones para reanudar su tarea diaconal aquí.
Agradezco la bienvenida que se le dan a los seminaristas que reciben su asignación pastoral aquí. Por favor, continúen dándoles la bienvenida a estos jóvenes con un espíritu de oración, para que ellos siempre nos recuerden en sus oraciones por la gentileza que les mostramos en sus años de formación.

Your RE fees must be paid/cur-rent and your child must be actively participating in classes, in order to register for next year. Spaces will fill quickly, so watch the bulletin, check your email and make sure you come by when we begin pre-registering! Registration for families who did not participate in RE this year, will open in August.

Adult Faith Sacramental Sessions will be offered starting on: Mon-days: June 12th. These sessions run from 6:30-8:00 pm for 9 weeks. These sessions will prepare any Adult 18 years [who is out of HS] and or older to celebrate the Sacraments of First Communion and/or Confirmation or both. May 20-21, Sixth Sunday of EasterThrough the Risen Christ, we are given the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit that fills us with hope and joy, even in the face of suffering. This same Spirit showers us with a love and truth that is beyond “worldly” standards and wisdom. It is God’s Spirit that transforms us from a mere collection of isolated individuals or strangers into a community of brothers and sisters. This solidarity, the fruit of the Spirit, “presumes the creation of a new mindset which thinks in terms of community and the priority of life of all over the appropriation of goods by a few.” (The Joy of the Gospel, 188)

Together Encounter Christ (TEC)TEC Retreat TEC (Together Encounter Christ) is an intergenerational movement focused on the Paschal Mystery of Jesus Christ. TEC is a high energy and spirit filled retreat where young adults explore and deepen their faith. Weekends are filled with witness talks, group discus-sions, personal reflections/prayer, recreations and live music. The TEC retreat is for young adults ages 17 (or a 2nd semester junior) and up.TEC of Central Texas is a 3-day retreat hosted at Eagles Wings Retreat Center. You will experience a fresh, faith-filled atmosphere away from home, school, and/or work. Retreat participants meet, reflect, and share how they see themselves, their ideals, and their hopes/dreams while finding God’s presence in their life.
There are only two (2) TEC of Central Texas weekends each year and availability is limited.
