Birthline Ministry Keri Carroll, Coordinator
Birthline is a ministry of the Office of Human Life & Dignity which provides baby layettes for moms in need.
We are currently receiving donations which are accepted on Monday & Wednesday from 10:00 am – 2:30 (closed from Noon – 12:45 pm) at the Xavier Building (Crisis Center’s main entrance on Northside of building – 1435 Illinois Street, Indianapolis 46202)
• Needed: Have you ever thought about being a
volunteer? Birthline is currently looking for Volunteers to help on Monday and Wednesday at the Xavier Building to prepare layettes and assist clients. Bi-lingual is a plus. Training is provided. Social distancing observed.
• Needed: Phone Volunteers to help monitor the phones and schedule clients from their home. Training is provided. Must have a computer with internet access.
• Needed: Joe-Handyman to help on Monday and/or
Wednesday between 9:00 am – 2:30 pm to accept and evaluate the donations coming in, to assist clients with layettes back to their cars, and general labor in a working environment.

Mother’s Day…
is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the beautiful vocation of motherhood and the gift of life. It calls us to cherish the gift of life that we receive from our mothers and to pray for all women to whom God has entrusted life in a very special way. As we pray in thanksgiving for the gift of all mothers, we also specifically remember mothers experiencing difficult pregnancies and pray they may find support and encouragement in choosing life for their children.
Birthline is one of the resources mom’s in central and southern Indiana that moms can find support for items they need for their infants and children. Please join us by praying the Prayer for Pregnant Mothers during the month of May.

May 7, 2021: Women’s Care Center First Friday Mass
The Women's Care Center (4901 West 86th Street Indianapolis 46268) invites you to our First Friday Mass on May 7th at 5:00 pm in our chapel. There will be light refreshments after Mass and the ability to take a tour and learn more about our mission. We are now serving over 30 women facing unplanned pregnancies many days, most of who benefit from multiple services, such as pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, parenting classes, and goals counseling. Note: While many respect life ministry initiatives address abortion, respect life also includes ministry to the terminally ill,
handicapped, impoverished, neglected and marginalized.

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis Black Catholic Ministry is hosting monthly virtual gatherings to discuss intercultural competency and how we can address structural racism through dialogue and action. The gatherings are held on the last Saturday of the month via Zoom. The next conversation is planned for Saturday, April 24th, at 10am. Our facilitator and discussion leader is Dr. Kathleen Dorsey Bellow, director of the Institute for Black Catholic Studies at Xavier University in New Orleans. Xavier University is the only historically Black and Catholic university in the country. Dr. Dorsey Bellow will lead a discussion on the importance of Africentric Catholic catechesis. Fessahaye will give us an overview of the American Catholic Church – Legacy of Racism and the Emerging Immigrant Church. He will also talk about the racially motivated attacks against the immigrant community and how we can respond. Our facilitator and discussion leader Deacon Royce Winters, director of African American Catholic Ministries for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Deacon Winters has been an ordained deacon since 1998. And he has extensive experience in law enforcement serving various capacities, including S.W.A.T. negotiator and forensic behavioral
specialist for adults and juveniles. The title of the discussion is The Catholic Church: Do Black Live Really Matter.
