PLANNED REMEDIAL ACTIONS
We are removing some ACM from the rail cars in connection with the Positive Train Control (PTe) and Camera projects. We wiH be conducting asbestos awareness training for affected employees .
• We will be working with an Industrialtiygiene consultant to evaluate the situation and recommend further remedial measures.

ASBESTOS ON ARROW III RAIL CARS
BACKGROUND
Non-friable asbestos is present in Arrow ut rait cars on the inner shell. This asbestos containing material (ACM) is not harll'iul unless it is disturbed and becomes airborne.
A material can only be identified as asbestos by testing.

EXPOSURE Ml11GATION
The primary health risk to workers posed by asbestos in the Arrow ttl rail cars is the fnhalatiofl of fibers released by disturbance of non-friabJe asbestos. If a surface that is scheduled to be worked on may contain asbestos, workers should advise their supervisor. The-supervisor must contact Environmerrtel Services and/or the Office of System Safety for evaluation of the materfal.
Note: only an asbestos abatement contractor can remove or encapsulate (protect by enclosing) asbestos.
