Dear Parents/Guardians,
Due to the concerns raised about lead in drinking water that was found in several school districts around the State,
the Ridgefield Park School District made a decision to test the lead levels in the drinking fountains and other water
sources in all of the district school buildings this past Spring.
The district contracted with ALS Environmental to conduct the tests. Samples were collected on May 24th
and 25th
according to specific sampling guidelines. Below is a summary of the results recorded in analytic reports received
in June. According to federal regulations, an acceptable lead level for potable water sources is .015 PPM.

While I am happy to report that very few potable sites tested above allowable levels, it is imperative that every
precaution is taken to ensure the safety of everyone in our school community. As such, the potable sites exceeding
the lowest allowable limit (listed below) were all shut down pending further action by the district.

The full environmental reports can be found on the district website, in the Business Office or in the Main Office of
each respective school.
Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact your building principal.
