Staying Strong on Your Feet

Winter is well and truly upon us nowand we are half way through the yearalready! Is it just my imagination or dothe years seem to be flying by foreveryone? I recently visited the placeof my birth and it was interesting tosee some of my former school friends,all now in the 65+ age bracket, eitherretired or looking forward to enjoyingthose ‘retirement years.’ Some arefortunate to be leading active and fulllives, coping well with the ‘advancingyears,’ whilst others whether throughill health or lifestyle choices are notfaring quite so well. It was interestingto observe that by and large, thosewho were still active and involved invarious hobbies and organisationsappeared to be the ones that were thehappiest and healthiest. Not everyonehas perfect health but doing all thatwe can to remain active and healthycertainly helps. The ‘Strong onYour Feet’ programme has beenspecifically designed for seniors andis led by trained Peer Leaders.Everyone is encouraged to do

whatever theycan to exerciseboth body andmind but no-oneis expected orrequired to domore than theyfeel able to do.

Any involvement is better than noneat all and I love the fact that we neverexercise into pain!The exercises aresafe being designed to be done sittingin a chair or standing behind a chair.Over time if done regularly at home,the exercises will result in a markedimprovement in strength, balance andco-ordination. For seniors wanting tostay ‘strong on your feet,’ we meeteach Monday at 1pm in the SeniorCitizens Hall in Millar Street - publicholidays excepted. The cost is $2 forthe exercise routine and $2 forafternoon tea.

For further information please contactJan by phoning 9535 4749,mobile 0427 088 615 or Email [email protected]

Don’t forget! Even though the weatheris cooler it is still important to bringyour drink bottles. Stay strong, stayactive and stay happy! Blessings,Cheryl

The Power of BlessingThere is‘power’ in theblessing of a

hug! Sometimesour actions canspeak louderthan words but

even so, it’s hardto imagine how a simple hug could bea catalyst that could transform a lifethat was so bad into a life that is sogood - and a blessing to many peopletoday! That was the case in an articleI read recently about a former bikie,drug addict, tattoo covered and violentstandover man. In his own words headmits that he was ‘full of hate andanger’ and society had put him in the‘too hard basket.’ His drug-taking andoutrageous behaviour became so outof control that he was even beaten upand expelled from the bikie gang thathe had joined.Today that young manis kept busy sharing his story atChurches, conferences and schools.He is clean-shaven and wears a suit!He works in a sales and marketing joband is the recipient of a business

needs hope in what might seem like ahopeless situation will be encouragedto not give up. Whether for yourselfor for your loved one, you can beassured that ‘all things are possiblewith GOD.’ HE loves us all and has aplan and purpose for each and everyone and HE knows our potential -despite our present circumstances.Be encouraged to keep on lovingthose in the ‘too hard basket’ bysharing a kind word or an act ofkindness. As we have heard,something as simple as a re-assuringhug can be the very catalyst thatbegins the process of transformation -from a life that was so bad into a lifethat is so good andhas the potential tobe a blessing tomany.There is ‘powerin the blessing of ahug!’Be blessed to bea blessing and hugsomeone today!GOD bless, Cheryl.

He dreams of starting aChurch and believes without ashadow of a doubt that he will oneday pastor a Church.This amazingtransformation began when the wife ofthe Director of a Salvation ArmyRehab Centre asked him if she couldgive him a hug. He asked ‘What doyou want to give me a hug for?’ andthe woman responded; ‘Because Ilove you mate.’ He said okay eventhough he didn’t even know what ahug looked like but when this womanhugged him he just exploded,breaking down into tears and sobbing.Thirty three years of life’s experiencesthat had moulded him into somethingGOD had never intended him to be,dissolved in that one moment. Hesays that what this lady did in oneaction was she said “My GOD says tolove him and to love him well.” Hesaid that when he gave his heart toJESUS, ‘GOD took away all the badstuff and filled him with good stuff andturned his life around.’I hope that bysharing this testimony someone who

July 2016 Page 9Waroona Vet Clinic News

Current ConditionsHere’s some of the conditions we’veseen lately in both our small and largeanimal patients. Some are morecommon this time of year with the wetweather, while others just seem to bemore frequent at the moment.Ringworm -Ringworm, also known asDermatophytosis, is actually a fungusand not a worm at all. We arecurrently seeing it in puppies, kittensand horses and it presents as itchyhairless patches often on the animal’sface, ears and feet. Treatmentinvolves 10 minute baths in anantifungal shampoo (e.g. Malaseb) forseveral weeks and/or topicalantifungal sprays daily. It is highlycontagious and spreads via spores,therefore beading, leads, collars etc.must also be disinfected.Foot Abscesses and Footrot -Foot abscesses are very common inthe wet months of the year, due toanimals standing in wet paddocks forprolonged periods of time whichsoftens the skin. Bacteria then entersthe skin through wounds forming anabscess, which can burst and drainout the skin. This causes lameness,inability to walk and graze and weightloss. Footrot in sheep and goats iscaused by the bacteria Dichelobacternodosus, which is highly contagiousand reportable. It requires moisture,long pastures and mild temperatures

patented for its ability to increasecartilage regeneration. Very safe.-Previcox: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory tablet given once a day.It is safer than some of the other anti-inflammatory drugs on the market andprovides excellent pain relief.-Trocoxil: A similar drug to Previcox,but has the advantage of lasting a fullmonth. This ensures there are nofluctuations in its anti-inflammatoryeffect. However, we like to run a quickblood test before starting patients on itto check their kidney and liver functionis ok.-Weight loss: if your pet is overweight,weight loss will make a hugedifference to the pressure on theirjoints and hence their level of comfort.Cat Flu -Cat flu can be caused by multipledifferent organisms, but is morecommonly seen in cats that haven’tbeen vaccinated recently with an F3vaccine, which covers felinecalicivirus, panleukopenia (cat parvo)and herpes virus. Signs include arunny nose, mucky eyes, sneezing,coughing, off food and lethargy. It ishighly contagious, especially in amulti-cat household. Treatmentinvolves antibiotics, anti-inflammatories if severe anddecontaminating all in contact items athome.

to establish and transmit betweenanimals. They will go lame, usuallymore than one foot is affected, noswellings may be seen and they mayeat on their knees. Treatment for bothfoot abscesses and footrot involvesantibiotics, foot bathing in zincsulphate, paring out feet and keepinganimals in dry areas.Arthritis -The colder weather really takes its tollon our geriatric patients. Arthritis is apainful condition causing inflammationand stiffness of the joints. Althoughwe can’t reverse it, there are manythings you can do to help keep yourpet comfortable during the coldermonths.-Hill’s J/D biscuits: A fully balanceddog or cat joint diet containing fish oil,glucosamine, fatty acids, chondroitinand calcium which is proven to helpimprove mobility in as little as 21 dayswhen fed as the sole diet. Minimisesthe use of anti-inflammatorymedications and has a 100%palatability guarantee (full refund ifyour pet doesn’t like the flavour).-Cartrophen injections: ContainsPentosan, a disease modifyingosteoarthritis drug. It is given as oneinjection a week over 4 weeks. It actsas an anti-inflammatory, inhibitscartilage destruction and indirectlystimulates joint fluid production.-4cyte: Small edible granulescontaining Epiitalis, a plant oil extract

Dog washing available daily by appointment onlyThe Basics: (wash and towel dry) from $15 The Works: Wash, blow dry, nailstrimmed, ears cleaned and anal glands expressed if needed) from $25

It has been some weeks since we allreviewed our selected books. Wewere all happy to get together thisweek & welcome back Polly, ourlibrarian, from knee surgery. Thebooks we have been reading allrelated in some way to personalstories & experiences during warsspanning the period WW1 to presentday conflicts.There was a good rangeof books to choose from, too many tolist all of them, but here is a selectionof some read & reviewed by our clubmembers. “The Carpet Maker ofMazar-E Sharif” by Najae Mazari &Robert Hillman is about an Afghanimmigrant from war torn Afghanistan& his experiences culminating in hislife here in Australia. The review forthis book was in short “quiteinteresting” “Blue Door” by LiseKristensen was more popular andthose who read it recommended it toother readers as was “A Greater

News from the Library Book Club…..from Lynne Marsh

Love” by Olga Watkins. The book Iread was “The Man Who Broke IntoAuschwitz” by Denis Avey (who wasthe man) and co-writer RobBroomby. I really found this book ona variety of levels graphic,confronting, sad and also very heartwarming. I could go on but it remainsto say, I highly recommend this book& urge people who hesitate to readsomething which might beunpalatable to rise above it anyway.Let’s face it most of us watch theevening news containing all kinds ofnasty images & stories, so why notthis book? You will read how thehuman spirit can be unbelievablystrong & kind. Now to our currentauthor: We are reading femaleauthor Alex Gray who is a Scottishcrime writer from Glasgow. Watchthis space on what our book clubreview has to say in due course

Warning about high-risk propertyinvestment schemesIf you invest wisely in property itshould give you a sense ofsatisfaction and peace of mind.However, too many consumers havefallen for a slick sales pitch and livedto regret their investment decision.The great personal financial cost canalso damage relationships and affectemotional wellbeing. Doing yourresearch is crucial before you decideto invest in property, but you need tolook for information in the right places.‘Free’ investment seminars orworkshops hosted by propertyspruikers are often promoted throughpamphlets put in letterboxes orhanded out on the street, viaFacebook and email or at expos likehome and garden shows. Reallythey’re just opportunities forsalespeople to sell product but oftenthe sellers create the impressionthey’re financial experts and naïveinvestors risk paying a high price fortheir services. You need to rememberthe old saying that ‘if it sounds toogood to be true then it probably is’.Property spruikers are in it forthemselves. The seminars ofteninvolve hyped up presentations bypeople who overstate the value oftheir investment schemes. Someseminars involve catchy chants,expensive wine being given to a‘lucky’ attendee and all sorts of othergimmicks to give people a false sense

returns.Don’t get caught up in thehype. If you are feeling underpressure to make an investmentdecision it is best to walk away andtake some time to consider the deal. Ifthe promotional material does notclearly state that further training orother goods and services will be soldat the seminar, under the AustralianConsumer Law you have 10 businessdays to change your mind if you signup for items valued at more than$100. The spruiker may not want totell you about your right to cool off andcancel the contract, but it‘s the law.This legal right may be extended tosix months if you weren’t told aboutthe 10 day cooling-off periodentitlement. Before committing to aninvestment deal, always getindependent, property, financial andlegal advice from licensedprofessionals like lawyers,accountants, financial advisers andreal estate agents. Make sure youreally know what you will becommitting to, and if it will be right for

of empowerment before they’re urgedto sign up for a property or investmentcourse on the day.Be on high alert if a seminarpromoter:• encourages you to buy an

investment property that youcan’t see or hasn’t even beenbuilt yet;

• really plays down the risks andcosts, and side-steps questionsfrom the audience;

• wants you to hand over moneyfor more courses, books andDVDs to learn how to be asavvy investor;

• offers you a loan so you cansign up for more investmentcourses;

• has a sense of urgency that anopportunity will be lost; and/or

• makes you feel pressured intosigning up on the day.

You also need to consider whetheryou could manage any loans duringunfavourable circumstances, whetherit’s a common rental vacancy, interestrate rise or another unforeseensetback. Rental vacancy rates inmajor cities across the country haverecently ranged from two to nine percent, which means many propertieswill be without a tenant for weeks oreven months. A rent back guaranteemay have been factored into the costof the project and therefore does notrepresent a solid investmentopportunity with guaranteed

metalwork all going up. We just needthe concrete flooring and all of theinternal electrics and plumbinginstalled and we will be able to moveall of our trailers and other assetsback into their new home. Themarkets were reasonably quiet againand we once more set up at the rearof the Memorial Hall, which seems tobe working quite well. We also cookedfor local farms at Mike and DonnaWalmsley’s farm property.The main event for June though wasour annual Change Over Night onMonday 13th June, when our newBoard for the coming financial yearwas installed. This year, we decidedto hold it at Waroona Bowling Club, asthey had played host to us on acouple of occasions this year already.It was a great night and was wellattended by visiting members from theneighbouring Lions Clubs ofBoddington, Harvey, Mandurah,Pinjara and Serpentine-Jarrahdale.The three course meal cooked by thefantastic volunteer team of ladies fromthe club was absolutely delicious soTHANK YOU LADIES!! Ourdistinguished guest, acting as ourChange Over Chairman this year, wasPast District Governor Tim Irvine. Timis also the National Coordinator forthe Leadership Committee, which

Larry hasbeen the Club’s President, three timesbefore in 1994, 2010 and 2011 andwill no doubt have the experience todo a great job. oversees training and development ofall existing Lions leaders and anyfuture ones as well. As well asinstalling the Club’s new Board for theforthcoming financial year, Tim alsovery generously agreed to induct ournewest member, Senior ConstableDarren Browne. It’s great to have amember of the local constabularyamongst the ranks of the Lions Cluband at 34, Darren is one of theyoungest Lions that we’ve EVER had

which bodes well for the future. As forthe new Board for next year, there is agood mix of some old faces and somenew. Long serving advocatesDom Della Franca and BillRafferty continue their roles asMembership Chairman and LionTamer respectively, while LionLouie Chiera continues asTreasurer for a second yearand “Yours Truly” as Secretaryfor a THIRD!! (I’m a sucker forpunishment!....no, truly, I lovethe job!). The really excitingnews is that for the first timeever, we have two femalemembers on the Board, Lion Lynley

Even took time out to givethe same treatment to Jake TheBantams Yard and his three bantamgirls Toffee, Miss Cardinal and MissCustard and all four love scratchingthe woodchip. Soaks up the rain anddoes not leave the ground boggy.Collie Black three chicks are nowalmost 4 weeks old and happy withthe ration of 2 females, one likelymale. She has shown the chicks howto scratch the woodchip for gold andalso last week they took to the perchin the Collie Ensuite to stay out of therain which was interesting for suchyoung birds.Sadly have to report Buffyand Foghorn two leghorns had arelapse in illness and were laid to restby Waroona Vet Clinic Staff a fortnightago. Certainly not an easy decision astheir eggs helped win the championegg rosette at the Brunswick Showlast October but the health of thosetwo birds was important along with notinfecting their housemates inChookyard Hotel. The effort ofpenning up birds on Saturdayafternoon for the Young Bird Showmade life so much easier for my 12entries as I was back down theShowgrounds at 6.45am Sundayopening up the visitors changeroomsand the WAS rooms for the umpireslater on in the day. Was happy overallto receive four first prizes, fiveseconds with only 3 birds missing outon class prizes. Maggie a speckledsussex pullet won first prize, Secret aNew Hampshire Pullet won first prizein her class, and Ace a Silver LacedWyandotte Pullet first prize in class16. Took aheavy fall yesterday on the newconcrete floor when my rubber bootheel accidentally clipped the tin basewhen chasing” Dalmation” an Anconaback to her pen and feel like afootballer today after a match on aheavy ground in tough climaticconditions. Consequently spent theafternoon watching Peel Thunder on aWAFL Television Broadcast Sundayafternoon and again on light dutiestoday. Editor Mike will be surprisedthis article is a day ahead of scheduleand not at the last minute. Obviouslya football bye on the weekend allowssome forward planning. Love readingeach month about the Girls at Number13 and 13 has always been my luckynumber including my basketballsinglet. Both articles give a differentaspect and insight to poultry farmingand housekeeping .Till next time andwill be keep my girls warm for the lastmonth of winter and in springhopefully the new Chookyard Hotelwill be ready for occupation. Caitlin my daughterhas been coming home from Perthfrom her normal pharmaceuticaloccupation and we are constantlyendeavouring to improve the hygieneand health of all birds at ChookyardHotel. She was even kind enough tobring home some Aqium AntibacterialHand Sanitiser to stop any crossinfection when dealing with birds aftersome timely advice from Frosina atWaroona Vet Clinic. Sometimes Ithink the Assistant Manager ofChookyard Hotel goes back to the cityfor a well earned rest at her real jobas she works extremely hard whenshe is home. THE GIRLS AT NUMBER 13Well, winter hasarrived and weare all enjoyingthe wet weather.However, oneparticular daythings were sonot so good! Dadchose to replaceour strawmattresses fromBed Shed for us.It had been

raining before he commencedmucking around in our Hen ManorHouse. Making all sorts of noises,Dad didn’t see the rain approaching.Of course it started to pour down andthere we are stranded outside unableto take shelter. We all crowdedaround the entrance to OUR house,making the necessary noises for Dadto hear our plight. Dad had a bag ofstraw and a bucket blocking theentrance, so we couldn’t get inside.Down came the rain in torrents, we alllooked like drowned scarecrows!Water running off our backs, we couldhardly see each other. Thoughtlesscharacter Dad is sometimes! After awhile Dad realised that we were allwaiting to get inside. So he finallymoves his rubbish out of the way forus girls to jump inside. Wouldn’t you

some Hen Manor House cleaning,flicking the straw on the concrete flooreverywhere to sweep up any dirt.Thanks for reading our news and wehope you all keep warm these coolerdays. We had better get back tothings and say Bye for now.

think that Dad would have providedumbrellas for us at such a momentlike that? Our egg production hasincreased with more of us deciding tolay. Hildane, our Speckled Sussexsister has really put on a fineperformance, laying some good sizeeggs. We have been fed some greattasting weeds and grasses, along withdrowsy grasshoppers, snails and anygrubs that Dad can find. It all goesdown very nicely. Hannah, ourAustralian Langshan sister is justfinishing her moulting. She lost a lot offeathers this year, but managed to sella considerable amount on Gumtree.She has her own pink mobile on acontract with Dodo. An enterprisinggirl that one! Hildegaard, ourBlue/Black Australorp sister strutsaround the yard displaying her newseason feathers. She has put onweight lately and might have toconsider a course of Lite N Easymeals to slim down. Henrietta, ourPlymouth Rock sister, has enjoyedplaying in the puddles of water,getting her beak in such a messystate! What a grot she is. Dad gave usa really large seed ball, so we can allhave a go at getting the seed. Thereis always plenty of activity in our yardand enough to keep us occupiedthroughout the day. We love to do

WaroonaFootball Clubafter round 11is still in thefive in all threegrades andshould becontestingFinals if resultscontinue to fallthe Demons

Way in the next seven qualifyinggames. Waroona Reserves are thebest placed of the three teams sittingcomfortably in third spot having justdropped three games to date anddefeated the previously unbeatenBaldivis in the last fixture before thebye. Rookie Coach Marty Scott andhis playing Assistant Lindsay Wilsonare delighted with the results to datedespite three or four changes in theteams list each week. Harrison Ellis(Big H) destroyed the Brumbies withten goals off his own boot and welland truly covered the absence ofSteve “Sav” Srhoj with the depth ofthe Reserves for 2016 a feature.Former League Coach Dean Taylorensures plenty of supply from theCentre of the ground and he is a likelyleader in both the Peel FootballLeague and Club awards withoutputting the monkey on his back.Captain Michael “Pickles” Vellacott isplaying attacking football from halfback and Adrian Goff “Goffy the Vice-Captain always provides a contestagainst much bigger opponents at Fullback. Other defenders Daniel Jonesand Kallen Cooke have also beenresolute and Dean Shore hasimposed his big frame in the Ruck.Veterans Rocky Caruso and LindsayWilson are also in good touch andNormie Davis has used his pace togood effect on the wing or up forward.A key factor is the reserves team areall enjoying their football and playingfor each other. Russell Shore andBrad Bromley and Damien Young areall pressing for a league recall and willstill be keen to qualify for theReserves Finals if not getting aGuernsey in the League Squad ineight weeks’ time. Peel Cavaliersshocked the strong South WestCountry Championship with a 12.10(82) to 10.7 (67) on a very wet HandsOval last Sunday. The finalscoreboard was not a true reflectionof the Cavaliers dominance withSouth West kicking seven goals aidedby a few generous decisions from abiased central umpire. Halls Headplayer Gribble was best afield for Peelwho was part of a dominating

of seasons. Jayden Caratti has notshown his explosive best in winningRunner Up Fairest and Best for thepast two seasons and it has beengood blooding Colts players TommyWilson, Zachary Moody as well asformer Colts players Josh Commisso,Jake Wilson and Harry Ellis for thefuture. Adam Clancy who was theunlucky player in last years GrandFinal team and Steve Cameronreturning from a Premiership atBussleton last year have been twopower forwards and given a target tothe Demons midfield. There certainlyis a lot of upside to the WaroonaLeague Squad but application,improved foot skills, reducingturnovers plus continued fiercetackling together with Demon prideand passion hopefully , winning mustwin games can be achieved. Clay”Mud” Smith has had an outstandingseason so far and Mr Versatile hasbeen placed all-round the ground byCraig Callaghan to cover anydeficiency or create teamopportunities and if his fellow teammembers can match his consistentstandards to form a uniform teamperformance then the team will have agreater opportunity of achieving thedesired outcome. Waroona Demonscannot afford to lose any games in thenext seven rounds otherwise it will bea cut throat Elimination Final at thebusiness end of the season. WaroonaColts have been solid in most gamesthis year and currently sit in fourthplace with a six/five winning ratio.Congratulations to Blayne Hull, ChadWrigley, Brad Starr and RyanWiltshire who played in the ColtsCavaliers side last weekend and goodluck to make the final squad for theround robin Country Championships.The Colts boys were disappointinguntil the last quarter against Baldivis,made a spirited comeback but then letthe Brumbies kick three easy goals tofinish the game on a low note. InRound 10 Waroona Colts wereamazing to defeat South MandurahColts who are hot favourites to win theflag by eight goals after gettingthrashed by 12 goals in their previousencounter. It was an emotional day forthe Colts Team who learnt that one oftheir most talented teammates wouldnever play football again for healthreasons after a bout of concussion inRound 8 versus Pinjarra Tigersbrought a promising football career toa sudden halt. Coach Glen Wilsonand his Assistant Mark Spence will beworking overtime to ensure season2016 remains after losing their way

midfield. Justin Giumelli relished theheavy going through the middle of theground. Clay Smith was resolute atCentre Half Back and Rhett Masonwas given the difficult task ofcontaining ex West Perth playerTsalikis who has been the dominantplayer in the South West competitionin 2016.Mason restricted his opponentto zero impact whilst finishingamongst the game’s best players. The“Pope” Peter Ward described his“Mark of the Day as sensationaltogether with his slick ball handlingdespite the handicap of greasyconditions. It was pleasing to see theWaroona Demons Trio excel at thehigher level and it is essential theymaintain their form and influence onthe home front as Waroona Leagueteam is three games and percentagebehind Pinjarra Tigers for the doublechance at present. After a great firstterm Waroona were verydisappointing for the last threequarters being outscored by theBaldivis Brumbies ten goals to threedespite the unbeaten leaders missingkey players as well. They aredefinitely the team to beat at thisstage for season 2016.Waroona hasbenefited greatly from Peel Thunderplayers Andrew Leroy-RuckmanForward and Corey Morris-Centreman returning to play for theirhome town on the byes weekend. Atthis stage the new oval surface hasmade the League Squad leg wearybut collectively the team must worktheir way through that handicapcollectively on the training track.Despite an impressive list and newrecruits the League Squad has failedto defeat any team above it on theladder despite defeating last year’sPremiers South Mandurah in all threegames this season. Lance Lucas atCentre Half Back and Rhys Bloxsidgein a back pocket have been veryconsistent. Cousins Joel Catalanowho is only available every secondweek and Rhys Anzellino haveenjoyed playing together with eachother for the first time have been solidcontributors each week and if thelatter works on improving his disposalefficiency his attack on the ball willensure Waroona Demons spend moretime in attack than defence. Injuries toGreg Nelson, Cruize Garlett, formerCaptain Ben Wright and New CoCaptains Courtney Lakay and MatThomas have forced weekly changesto the team composition but thepassion and desire apart from the firstgame at home has been lacking,benchmarking against the past couple

last season after anine zip start. Itcoincided with theColts Carnival inLake Grace andnever got on trackagain, mentally.Ruckman Brad Starrand his co RuckmanJarvis Ellis have

given the Colts first use of the ball andGriffin Rae has been great at FullForward after injuries to CalebSawyer and Josh Falkstrom. It hasbeen exciting to watch the continuedimprovement on a weekly basis ofJunior players playing their firstseason of senior football. Themosquito fleet of Connor Wright andRyan Wilshire have been wellsupported by Tommy Wilson andJames Vincent to create goal scoringopportunities. Brett Shipley andBlayne Hull show great skill at theCentre bounce downs and ZacharyMoody after two league games willcontinue to develop into a Leagueplayer of the future. Cameron White isthe Captain of the Ship in the Backlineand well supported by Austin Lilly andNickolas Schofield. Reegan Davisworks hard at Centre Half Forwardevery week and his Twin JalenAnzellino needs to follow his lead bysetting a high standard on a weeklybasis like the game he performedagainst Pinjarra. Jake Wilson andChad Wrigley if they play Colts willmake a big difference to this veryyoung Colts team and in the the lastseven games the Waroona Colts willdefinitely be aiming for the cherishedthird spot at the end of qualifying.Pleased to report the new WAFLStandard Goalposts have beensuccessfully installed with clubvolunteers led by Kurt Brown and hisyellow crane. Another pleasing aspectis the cooperation between the JuniorFootball and Senior Club. A specialthankyou goes to Waroona JuniorPresident Scott Faulkner and hiscommittee in buying a New LineMarking machine and new Goal Padsas part of the Oval RestorationProject. Thanks to the Waroona BushFire in January season 2016 has notbeen easy and it has been nonstopfor President Paul Anzellino and hishardworking committee. Sevenstraight home fixtures will be ahandful for all concerned andcurrently the oval is standing up to thepressure. Waroona Netball teamshave been consistent all year andCoach Daniel Cools has been workinghard to get the girls in both League

and Reserves to play a moreconsistent brand similar to last year.Fixtures not being aligned withWaroona having no home games hasmade support from footballers to thenetball ladies difficult to say the least.Mundijong Oval is a good example ofhow well the netball and footballcombinations work as one. Goalshooter Sheree Hiller is currently on asix week overseas holiday and herteammates are missing her basketshooting skills. Please checkFacebook as several major socialevents will be conducted in the nextcouple of months and Darts is onevery second Tuesday in the DemonSocial Hall. A special thankyou to the

Secretary Shane Della-Franca forhanging all the Premiership Flags andsponsors signs in the Ceiling of theClubhouse and it ensured theemotions and feelings were runninghigh in a charged atmosphere inRound 10 on Sunday 5th June .Awinning trifecta against SouthMandurah Falcons was icing on thecake. The Bowling Club BulletinWell June / July willbe a really excitingtime for WaroonaBowling Club aswork finally starts onour new “A” green.We have now

received the final funding that weneeded from the Peel DistrictsRoyalties For RegionsCommunity Chest Grants,which was $24,020 toreplace the fences,shelters and paving and agroup of our volunteersfrom the club met on aFriday morning, a fewweeks back to take downthe old fencing. Once workbegins, Veronica Fullerand myself will take photosas it progresses for thispublication. The mainevent for June was ourusual annual visit to ScarboroughBowling Club for our “fun day“competition. About 11 of us wentthis year and needless to say we gotcomprehensively slaughtered by thehome teams!! Also in June, the clubplayed host to both the darts club ontheir usual Tuesday night League

Darts Carnival on Saturday June 25th.This year, as usual, there will be 14teams, 56 players coming from as faraway as Mount Barker (who havebeen coming every year for 23 years)and Margaret River (south) andWillagee (north) plus all of the localteams from here, Mandurah, Harvey,Bunbury etc. It will be too late for

publication to report theresults but this will be Wallyand June’s last one ever(although they DID say thatlast year as well!) unless wecan find some keen, able-bodied volunteers to takethe event over from them.Hopefully, we can. Finally,as we near the end of thefinancial year, it is time torenew those clubmemberships, so look outfor your renewalmembership in the mail. If
