OFFICER SPECIALIST SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
Issue 4, March 26th 2020
Dear Parents/Carers,
These are such uncertain times for everyone. Your children will probably be quite
anxious because they are experiencing a different routine and wondering why their
holidays have started earlier. (Some students will be extremely happy)
The students need to feel like things will be okay – different but okay. Teachers have
sent work and ideas home for the students – if they want to do it. If it’s not working
then look at doing other things such as a play outside and go for a walk. Bake some
cookies and paint pictures. Play board games or do a science experiment – making
volcanoes is always a spectacular one. Or just chill with your kids while you read
them a story or just have a chat.
Don’t worry if your child doesn’t want to do the work – its not worth the battle –
teachers will address learning concerns when your child returns to school. At the end
of all this – your child’s – and your own – mental health are the most important
thing.
Please look after yourselves and your families during this stressful time. Teachers will
be back after the school holidays but at this stage we do not know in what capacity. If
schools are still closed, then learning will be conducted through flexible learning
means. Teachers will continue to communicate and provide ideas for each of their
students into the new term.
I hope you enjoy a restful holiday and we look forward to seeing what the new term
brings.
Stay safe and well.
Denise and all the Officer Specialist School Staff
