Volume 8 Number 6 November / December 1993 News in brief Regular monUily meeting Monthly meetings of the society are held on thefirstTuesday of each month (except January) in Room 1, Griffin Centre, Bunda Street, Civic. Meetings commence at 8.00pm with the trading table and library open from 7.30pm November meeting Barney Greer from Sydney will speak on,"Murders, tigers, cannibals and orchids". You willrememberhis excelent and entertaining talk last year on stanhopeas. This is a meeting not to be missed. December meeting The December meeting is, as you might expect, our Christmas party to which you are invited to Tsring a plate'. There will be lots of fun and games, and awarding of the Graham Phillis Popular Vote Trophy and the prize for most frequent attendance at mmeetings. Bring your flowers for the display and popular vote. No sales table or library this evening. Black Mountain walk Orchids are fast disappearing on Black Mountain, so the committee has had to bring forward the date of this walk to Sunday 31 Oct at 10:30 am. Meet in Carpark opp. Wangara St. Aranda (Gregory ' s mapref.page 18, G2). School of Horticulture openday The err School of Horticulture, Heysen Street, Weston. Open Day is on Saturday November 6th, at which we are invited to participate by putting on a display and selling plants - but, please -reasonable sized plants oaty • no big trees, vast potfulls etc. etc. Please only sell plants of a quality that you would buy yourself. If you are selling, the Committee suggests you spend an hour or so helping on the sales table. Setting-up time is 8-9am on 6th Nov. Sellers are responsible for the collection and removal of all their unsold plants at the close of the day.
