“In the last days perilous times shall come.” (2 TIM. 3:1)

With all that’s going on around us it may seem that God has

turned His head and given up on humanity! Especially when on a

daily basis, the news reports are becoming more and more vile! We

see and hear of the military conflicts around the world, but we also

see and hear about what is going on in the United States – particularly

in the Chicago land area! It is a war when innocent people are being

killed as they participate in life activities. The statistics are chilling as

the number of deaths increases even before the summer season is ful-

ly upon us. When we reflect on these things, it appears as if God has

lost control, or He just does not care!

This has brought about a lot of discouragement and lack of faith

in God, which has spilled over into the church, but the Lord never

promised us that each day would be easy with no disappointments

(JOHN 16:33). He has promised to be with us. This is what we must

remember so that when we face discouragement we will draw closer

to Him and not pull away.

God encourages us to trust and rely on Him, and He promised

never to leave nor forsake us — no matter how things may look nor

how they may appear. This promise of His continued presence says

we are equipped to overcome and defeat the despair, discouragement

and disappointments that the enemy uses to impede our progress! We

are reminded in PROV. 3:5-6, to trust in the Lord with all our heart,

lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways

acknowledge Him and He shall direct you. He is yet in control!
