June Adult Sunday School
For the month of June we will study the book of Haggai. Hag-
gai is a prophetic book calling for the rebuilding of the temple after
the exile to Babylon. The people had returned but were attending
to the building of their own homes and leaving God’s house in shambles.
Haggai bids us to pay attention to the things of God and not neglect it. We are
reminded of Luther’s explanation to the third commandment. “’Remember the Sab-
bath day to keep it holy.’ What does this mean? We are to fear and love the Lord so
we do not neglect his Word and the preaching of it but regard it as holy and gladly
hear and learn it.”
June 03 chapter 1 of Haggai
June 10 chapter 2
June 17 No Sunday School.
Church at 9:00 am (Pastor on vacation)

Rock of Faith Family Church and Hope Lutheran will have
our second joint service on June 17th, again at 9:00 am.
We will use the Lutheran liturgical order and Rock of Faith will provide
the music and preaching.

KNOWING &FOLLOWING Jesus as His DISCIPLE
How will YOU intentionally invite Jesus to “TRANSFORM & TRAIN” you?
How are YOU intentionally growing as a DISCIPLE — an apprentice—a student of
Jesus himself? Consider the acronym at the following link. Each letter represents a
facet of being TRANSFORMED and TRAINED by Jesus himself. Which facet needs
to be strengthened for you? How will you grow in that facet?
DISCIPLE LINK:
http://www.hopelutheran.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/DISCIPLE-Acronym-
cright.pdf
Being a disciple is not about earning our Lord’s love and salvation for that's available for free if one wants
it; rather, it is about being transformed and trained so that you can be effective for continuing Jesus’ king-
dom work. Being a disciple and follower of Jesus is lifelong. It requires, "a long obedience in the same di-
rection," with daily perseverance.

“Please Keep Them . . .” Here is an awesome and powerful prayer written by an acquaintance of our family, Paula
Renee Crutcher Cornelius wrote. Pray with me and let’s start a new prayer movement for our
grandchildren, children, youth and young adults! Join me as we pray it daily?
Paula wrote:
“My prayer for my children today is, “Lord keep them.” Seems simple, it’s loaded.
PLEASE KEEP THEM:
-when they don’t want to be kept
-keep their minds
-keep their hearts
-keep their bodies
-keep them by your grace
-keep them from themselves
-keep their eyes on You alone
-keep them in your love
-keep them in your Word
-keep from the wisdom that is not Yours
-keep them from prisons & hospitals & cancers & diseases
-keep them holy & pure
-keep them as servant/leaders
-keep them well financially
-keep them Father, keep them.
Press on and Keep Praying!
