Fernandes, Charge D’Affairs together with Mr. Paulino Henrique Ribeiro, Attaché of Education and Ms. Jutamas Leelacharoenphorn, Administration Officer to Attaché of Education from Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste paid an official visit to Kasetsart University to meet administrators for an academic discussion on explore the possibility of mutual academic cooperation between the Ministry of Education of Timor-Leste and Kasetsart University. Associate Professor Dr. Poonpipope Kasemsap, Acting Vice President for International Relations together with other administrators extended his warm welcome the delegates and led the discussion on the said issues as follows: - Timor Leste consider Kasetsart University as the strategic partner in academic cooperation. In 2016,Timor Leste will grant 100 scholarships to sending student to study at Kasetsart University and universities in Thailand. - Kasetsart University offer short course training or tailor made program for personel in education such as teacher exchange program from Faculty of Education and Kasetsart University Laboratory School for Education Research and Development. The Gathering of Hiroshima University Alumni Academic Collaboration

Discussion at HoseiUniversity On Monday, August 10, 2015, Associate Professor Dr. Gunjana

Theeragool, Dean of the Graduate School, as a Hiroshima University alumni, attended the Gathering of Hiroshima University Alumni at Kwansei University, Marunouchi Office, Tokyo. The twenty alumni who participated in this assembly are former students of Emeritus Professor Dr. Yasuo Kobayashi, for instance, Dr. Hirohiko Hirochika, President and Director General of National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences (NIAS); Professor Dr. Yasuroh Kurusu, Dean, College of Agriculture, Ibaraki University; Professor Dr. Shinsuke Fujiwara, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Department of Bioscience, School of Science and Technology, Kwansei Gakuin University; Dr. Esteban S. Masuda, Senior Vice President, Research Immunology, Rigel Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; Professor Dr. Tsutomu Sato, Dean, The Graduate School of Frontier Bioscience, Hosei University. Upon this assembly, all alumni exchanged news on their occupation advancement and had an opportunity to discuss prospective future academic collaboration.

On Tuesday, August 11, 2015, Associate Professor Dr. Gunjana Theeragool, Dean of The Graduate School, visited Hosei University, Japan, for an academic discussion. Hosei University was established in 1880 as Tokyo Hogakusha (Tokyo School of Law). Currently, Hosei University consists of 3 campuses: Ichigaya campus, Tama campus and Koganei campus-all located within Tokyo. Hosei University comprises of approximately 38,000 students. Around 1,600 students are pursuing master’s or doctoral degrees. Upon arrival, the Dean of the Graduate School was warmly welcomed by Professor Dr. Kazuo Yana, Vice President and Professor of Applied Informatics; Professor Dr. Ikuro Kawagishi, Dean of Faculty of Bioscience and Applied Chemistry; and Professor Dr. Tsutomu Sato, Dean, The Graduate School of Frontier Bioscience. This was followed by a discussion regarding the establishment of future academic collaboration between the two universities.

On Tuesday August 18, 2015 Associate Professor Poonpipope Kasemsap, Acting Vice President for International Relations, as well as administrators of Kasetsart University, warmly, welcomed Professor Hideo TERAOKA, Vice President and Professor Koji KOBATA, Division Manager, International Affairs Division, International Center, University of Fukui, Japan so as to discuss the details on student exchange agreement between the two universities.

On August 18, 2015, a group of delegates (two professors and fifteen students) from Kochi Univer-sity, Japan, led by Professor Toshiro Masumoto, ac-companied by professors of Faculty of Forestry and Faculty of Fisheries, met with Associate Professor Dr. Prompilai Buasuwan, Faculty of Education, and officers of International Affairs Division, Kasetsart University to discuss and share their views on inter-nationalization related to the policy, strategic man-agement and activities. On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Prompilai Buasuwan introduced them to know the scopes of the university administration and management of internationalization, whereas Ms. Araya Bijaphala, Chief of International Coop-eration Section, International Affairs Division, gave them the information about the international office management and its responsibility.

Sharing of Internationalization with Kochi University

On Tuesday, August 18, 2015, Kasetsart University, in association with the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Yamaguchi University (YU), Can Tho University (CTU), the National University of Laos (NUOL), the University of Brawijaya (UB), Beuth University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Manchester, organized the International Joint Seminar New Core to Core Program A. Advanced Research Networks on “Establishment of an international research core for new bio-research fields with microbes from tropical areas (World-class research hub of tropical microbial resources and their utilization)” and e-ASIA JRP: An integrated research for the development of a scheme to control emerging vector-borne viral diseases in Asia on “Innovative Researches on Microbial Resources and Ecosystem in Tropical Areas”. The seminar commenced with a welcome address delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Gunjana Theeragool, Dean of the Graduate School and Thai Coordinator. Following this, opening remarks were made by Professor Dr. Soottiporn Chittmittrapap, NRCT Secretary General. Associate Professor Dr. Worawut Rerkamnuaychoke, Acting Vice President from Kasetsart University also partook in the opening ceremony. The seminar was a part of the Thailand Research Expo 2015 and took place at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre, Central World, Bangkok, Thailand.

On Monday, August 17, 2015, Mr. Toshinobu Mitsuke and Mr. Masaaki Sugiyama, the teachers from Fukui Prefectual Koshi High School, Japan together with the group of high school students made their International field trip to visit Kasetsart University. Asst. Prof. Dr. Supanni Chantkran, the Acting Director of International Affairs Division along with the university administrators, and the students of Kasetsart University hearty welcomed this delegation who paid an official visit to Kasetsart University. The aim of this visit is for their students and teacher to learn more about KU’s academic programs and its facilities. They also had the opportunity to observe in the English class of the Undergraduate students at the Faculty of Economics and had an informal campus tour around KU Bang-khen campus and final stopped at KU’s library.

On August 25-26, 2015, we were delighted to welcome Prof Paul Seedhouse (Newcastle University, UK) to our Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Humanities, as part of our ongoing collaboration between the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences, Newcastle University and the PhD-EIC (English for International Communication) Programme, Kasetsart University. Among the activities we had during his visit was a seminar on Foreign Language Teaching and Testing at Rama Gardens Bangkok. Thanks to a wide range of expertise of Prof Seedhouse, there were four fantastic talks offered including: (1) Learning languages, cultures and cuisines in digital interactive kitchens (2) The IELTS Speak- ing Test: Speaking features that distinguish IELTS proficiency levels (3) Conceptualising ‘Learning’ in Applied Linguistics (4) Academic Publishing: how to choose where to publish and how to prepare a manuscript.

On Thursday, August 27, 2015, Associate Professor Dr. Somwang Khantayanuwong, Associate Dean for Administration of the Graduate School and The Graduate School’s Administrative Team: Associate Professor Dr. Penkhae Wanchaithanawong, Assistant Professor Dr. Surang Hensawang, and Assistant Professor Dr. Sujate Chaunchom, warmly wel-comed Professor Dr. Seido Nagano, Vice Dean;

Welcome of a Delegation from The College of Life Sciences, Ritsumeikan University

Professor Dr. Mamoru Wakayama; and Mr. Masato Sugiyama, Administrative Manager, The College of Life Sciences, Ritsumeikan University, in the meeting room on the 3rd floor of The Graduate School Building. Two master’s degree graduates from Kasetsart University -- Ms. Vipavee Cherdvorapong and Ms. Preeyanuch Anukul who were selected for the 2015 MEXT scholar-ship also took part in this welcome meeting of

the Ritsumeikan delegation. In his address to the Ritsumeikan delegation, Associate Professor Dr. Somwang Khantayanuwong delivered important informa-tion of The Graduate School, fact and figures, study programs, services, and scholarships for international students. Subsequently, Professor Dr. Nagano presented his research on “Synchronization as a survival strategy in biology”. This was followed by a discussion on the Monbukagakusho (MEXT) doctoral degree scholarship and a report on the study progress of 2013 and 2014 MEXT scholarship students -- Mr. Siwaruk Chotiwan and Mr. Yuttamol Muangkram respectively. For this year, the announcement of the Monbukagakusho (MEXT) doctoral degree scholarship for 2016 enrolment will be announced around October to early November 2015. Graduate students who are interested in pursuing further studies in Japan can check the announcement on The Graduate School website.

On Tuesday September 1, 2015, at Teera Sutabutra Conference Room on the 2nd floor of the Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center, Kasetsart University Bangkhen Campus, the International Affairs Division (IAD) organized a special lecture on the topic of Higher Education and Scholarship Opportunity to study in France. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Sornprach Thanisawanyangkura, Ph.D., the Acting Vice President Planning and Development presided over the opening ceremony and welcomed the speakers and the audiences including of students, lecturers, researchers and scientists, and other distinguished participants who interested in pursuing the education opportunity in France. Two guest speakers, Mr. Camille Trzaska, Head of Campus France Thailand, The French Embassy and Mr. Pholawat Kunthaprom, France Educational Consultant, Campus France Thailand were invited to provide the most useful facts and information to know about studying in France for all interested participants. The France government promotes and encourages all students around the world to study in France as well as provide fantastic learning opportunities and avenues for the students to get the good educational resources along with the financial aids or scholarships. France has the education that every student wants. There are many programs offer in English and more than 700 scholarship funds for those who interested to take the opportunities that await for them such as Erasmus Mundus, Eiffel Scholarship, Franco-Thai Scholarship, Junior Research Scholarship, researcher exchange program between Thailand and France. These scholarships are contributed by the France government, some universities in France, and other participated countries. During the lecture, the speakers pointed out a lot of good check lists including of travel tips, visa

instruction, accommodations and facili-tations and etc. For more information, students can check out at http://www.campusfrance.org or join the special event “International Education Expo 2015 or OCSC which will be held at Siam Paragon Department Store, on the 5th floor during November 14- 18, 2015. After the lecture session ended, Campus France Team headed to visit and tour the classroom together with promoting the scholarship opportunity for the first year students (Class of Elementary French 1) at the Faculty of Humanities. The students enjoyed and full participated in the activities.

On September 2, 2015 at Faculty of Economics, Prof. Dr. Ir. Masyhuri, UC coordinator Gadjah Mada University and Ph.D. students from Gadjah Mada University totally 14 person paid a visit to Kasetsart University for a technical visit in the area of “Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management” As part of their program activities, Dr. Decharut Sukkumnoed, Head, Department of Agricultural and Resourse Economics, Faculty of Economics was delivering a special lecture to these delegates on “Academic and research program of the fields for the graduate program”. After that, the delegates get inquired how to provide guidance in agribusiness in the region and to explore for future collaboration such as the Double/Joint Degree Programs and student exchange. The activities in Bangkok and nearby areas comprised a visit to agricultural sites at Talaad Thai and Thai Orchid farm in Ratchaburi.

On September 18, 2015, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poonpipope Kasemsap, the Acting Vice President for International Relations together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Supanni Chantkran, the Acting Director of International Affairs Division cordially welcomed Mr. Pacharapol Padermprach, the Third Secretary of the Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh who accompanied with Mr. Ln. M K Bashar PMJF, the Founder and Chairman of BSB-Cambrian Education Group, and the executive members of Education Consultants, together with the groups of Media and Press from Bangladesh including of S. A. Television Channel, Channel I, Desh Television, and the Daily Star Newspaper. On this occasion, the team of Bangladesh executives and the press paid an official visit to Kasetsart University with the specific focus on curriculums and teaching of our Faculty of Agriculture. At 10.00 am. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poonpipope Kasemsap, the Acting Vice President for International Relations gave a public interview to all guests including the Media and Press from Bangladesh about the Scholarships and recommendations for the Bangladesh students who may have educational interest in the Faculty of Agriculture. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poonpipope Kasemsap expressed his strong confidence in potential and readiness to support the International Students who wish to apply at Kasetsart University. Today, our Faculty of Agriculture has 9 Bangladesh students who are pursuing their Master Degree and Doctoral Degree in Agriculture and Industrial Agriculture. Later at 11.00 a.m. the visitors were invited to visit a class at the Faculty of Agriculture, introduced by Assist. Prof. Dr. Sudsaisin Kaewrueng, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Agriculture. Afterwards, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sudsaisin Kaewrueng led the visitors to look around the Suwanvajokkasikit Poultry Farms and the 55th Anniversary Commemoration Garden. The garden is compared as a learning center for manu-facturing plants along with the Royal New Theory for people in Bangkok and its vicinity; located in the central area of Kasetsart University, Bang Khen.

On Tuesday September 22nd, 2015, Mr. Arie Veldhuizen, Agricultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangkok, Thailand paid an official visit to Kasetsart University. Mr Arie Veldhuizen was greeted by the Acting Vice President for International Relations, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Poonpipope Kasemsap, along with the Acting Vice President for Research, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Siree Chaiseri, and the university administrators. The objective of this meeting focused on exchanging their respective views on bilateral relations between the Netherlands and Kasetsart University. Both sides discussed ways to further relations in the academic cooperation sphere in the Double Degree for Doctoral Degree between KU and the leading Universities in the Netherlands in the coming years.

Dutch Agricultural Attaché visited Kasetsart University

On September 9, 2015, Associate Professor Dr. Bancha Kwanyuen, Acting President, tohether with administrators and faculty members warmly welcomed Prof. Alexandra Hughes, Pro Vice Chancellor, Global Engagement and delegates from University of Westminster, United Kingdom. The objectives of their visit were to participate in the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding and to have a detailed academic discussion in the fields of Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Humanities, Social Sciences and Architecture. The fruitful discussion led to possibilities in future academic cooperation to be initiated in joint-degree programs, exchange of students and staff and research collaboration.
