David is a partner of Allens and is currently seconded as a Senior Foreign Legal Adviser to Widyawan & Partners, the firm's Jakarta office. David's practicefocuses on energy, resources and infrastructure (ERI) in Asia, and also advises international clients on mergers and acquisitions and general corporateand commercial matters in the ERI sectors. David has lived in Asia since 2005 where he was based in the firm’s Singapore office. In 2008, he was secondedto be based in Jakarta full time as a foreign legal adviser with Widyawan & Partners. David has many years of experience advising international andIndonesian ERI clients such as Pertamina, Inpex, ExxonMobil, Shell, CNOOC, Medco, PGN, Transportasi Gas Indonesia and more on its investments and
projects in Indonesia and abroad. David has been named a leading individual for Energy and Resources in the current editions of leading independent publications suchas Chambers Asia-Pacific and Asia-Pacific Legal 500.
Malvinder Bandal is a well-rounded Petroleum Engineer with 30years’ reservoir engineering studies, operations and projectmanagement experience obtained in various geographical areasnamely in the Asia-Pacific region and to a lesser extent in Africa,CIS/Russia and the U.S.A.
Engineering from University of New South Wales, Australia; a Bachelor of Sciencedegree in Chemical Engineering from National University of Singapore; and anAdvanced Diploma in Business Administration (accreditation to ABE, UK). Malvinderis a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineer since 1981, and served as Program,Membership and Scholarship chairman at two chapters. He is also an active memberin SEAPEX.
Malvinder has worked for a significant period with international energy consultantsGaffney Cline & Associates (Singapore), national oil company, PETRONAS (Malaysia)and with independent oil company Chevron/WAPET (Australia). In September 2011,he founded his own company, MB Energy, where he is now the Principal ReservoirEngineer and Director.
He has been project manager and/or reservoir engineer in many acquisition, appraisaland development drilling, full field review, field development planning and reservesestimation projects. He has also been with project teams involved in gas salesagreement and unitization/redetermination work. He has significant experience in
current industry interests in deep water developments, tight gas reservoirs, fracturedsystems, compositional gas reservoirs, etc.
He participated actively in the formulation of deep water oil field developmentplans for several fields in Malaysia. Experiences from the Gulf of Mexico wereconsidered in these developments. He has also been involved in screeningdevelopments for deep water projects in West Africa. He has been keeping abreastwith deep water developments in Indonesia and India.
Malvinder has experience with more than 20 field development projects rangingfrom primary recovery to secondary recovery (gas, water injection) and tertiaryrecovery (steam flood, WAG). He led Australia’s first radioactive tracer injectionlogging program in 1992 with 20 wells being surveyed and analyzed. In 1994, hewas the development drilling team leader for PETRONAS Carigali’s first operatedfield where the successful appraisal cum development of the turbidite field led todoubling of Proved reserves. In 2005, he led Malaysia’s multi-company IOR initiativeto speed up IOR application techniques across fields throughout Malaysia.
He is author of 3 technical papers and co-author of another 4 papers. His mostrecent paper presented at IPA 2012 in Jakarta titled “Reporting Accuracy inConventional and Unconventional Resources” provides a clear approach in definingaccuracy of each parameter taking into account the measurement and interpretationerrors inherent in each parameter.

Should you be unable to attend, a substitute delegate is welcomeat no extra charge. Cancellations must be received in writing atleast 10 business days before the start of the event, to receive arefund less 10% processing fee per registration. The companyregrets that no refund will be made available for cancellationnotifications received less than 10 business days before the event.
