ObituaryOrder of ServiceOgletree Davidson was born on February 7, 1923 in West
Point, Georgia, to the union of Reverend Tom Davidson and Mary (Ogletree) Davidson. Ogletree was born into a family of 10 children. He had three sisters and six brothers. Ogletree has one surviving brother Tom Davidson. Ogletree served in the military during World War II. He was a member of the United States Army. He moved to Cleveland in 1949.
Ogletree met and married Lurlene Ferrell in 1949 in West Point, Georgia and had five children: Marzette (Barbara), Jerome (Joyce), John (Jackie), Darlene (Michael) and Mary Joyce.
Ogletree worked as a bricklayer until he retired in the late 1980’s. He helped build thousands of homes and businesses throughout the greater Cleveland area. He also assisted in employing many friends and family members in the construction trade. One of his sons, John Davidson, continues his legacy in the construction trade.
Ogletree leaves to mourn his passing five children, eight grandchildren: Johnathan (Alex), Darlene Nicole, Aaron, Willisha, Paris (Robbie), Romaine, Jamal and Adam; four great-grandchildren: Dasha, Robin, Jordan, Sean and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ogletree’s hobbies were fishing, gardening, planting vegetables and flowers, and following politics. He was very proud to be living long enough to witness the election of our first African-American president, Barack Obama.
Ogletree could engage you in heavy political conversations. He loved to talk about his years in the military and World War II. Ogletree was personable, genuine, kindhearted, sincere and a had a great sense of humor. He was a great family man, wonderful husband and great father and grandfather to his children. The gift of humor and laughter is what he shared most with those he loved dearly. He lived a long and fruitful life. Ogletree will always be remembered and greatly missed. His memory will be cherished and he will live in our hearts forever.
