This fall, for the 31st year and at a new location, the Ohio Shorthorn Association (O.S.A.) will assemble to present the public with an offering of Shorthorn genetics comprised from the top breeders in the state and elsewhere around the country.
The Fall Showcase Sale is Ohio’s oldest Shorthorn sale. It has been and will continue to be The Shorthorn Source, not only for showmen seeking their next winning heifer, but also for cattlemen looking to advance the genetics of their operation with proven, herd-improving Shorthorn cattle.
This year’s event plays host to the largest offering the O.S.A. members have assembled in several years and includes a top selection of open heifers and a very deep cut of bred females. Dedicated breeders and Shorthorn enthusiasts have stepped forward to offer their top stock in this year’s event.
This promises to be the highest quality set of cattle ever offered at the Fall Showcase Sale. The genetics represented in this offering are as strong as you will find anywhere in the country. Many of the show heifers, donor prospects and bull calves in this sale are the product of embryo transfer programs and were hard to part with for the firms making this offering. The mature females offered in this year’s Fall Showcase Sale are proven, predictable, problem-free performers - the herd improving kind.
We are pleased to again have the opportunity to work hand in hand with the O.S.A. membership to bring this set of cattle to auction. We look forward to continuing the tradition of success established over the history of the Fall Showcase Sale – The Shorthorn Source in the East.
We look forward to seeing each of you in Urbana on sale day. B.J. Eick, Sale Manager

The Carmele’s have been noted for some time as one of the top cow families at Greenhorn’s. The success this firm has had in the show and sale ring is undeniable and RF Carmele 108 AG 158 is at the backbone one of the most progressive E.T. programs in the breed.
The Lot 1 donor is a maternal sister to the breed icon CF Trump X. Recently, an E.T. daughter of RF Carmele was named the Reserve Champion Heifer at the 2009 Illinois Preview Show. This mating to the hot new bull Eldorado will produce more winners. The first calves by Eldorado sell at Cates Farms on Labor Day weekend and they’ve had everyone talking since they first hit the ground. Trump’s sister plus the hottest new bull of the year! Look in! Byland Cathy 2RD7 was the highlight lot of the 2008 Form to Function Sale. Hand selected from the historic Byland herd, this female was marked as the pinnacle representative of what a Shorthorn female should be. Correct in her design, solid in her performance and powerful in her kind, Byland Cathy 2RD7 is made to make Shorthorn cattle better.
Cathy’s mating to the new A.I. sire SULL-GNCC Achiever should produce fantastic show ring cattle with massive presence and awesome eye appeal. Achiever is a tremendously constructed bull from Sullivan’s Grand Champion Pen at the 2009 National Western Stock Show and he was recently selected as the Grand Champion Shorthorn Bull at the 2009 Ohio State Fair. We discovered this genetic gem during a herd visit to Bowman Superior Genetics this spring. Her depth of body, perfect udder and fantastic eye appeal captured our attention and when we read her pedigree, we knew we had to have this female.
BSG Corona Queen is sired by CF Fortune, a direct son of KA’BA Rose T90, and out of the predictable and potent CF 4 Queens cow – a female derived from CF Trump and the national champion producer CF Rodeo Casino 100. We couldn’t imagine a better and more proven show cattle pedigree.
After securing a share of SULL-GNCC Achiever we immediately scheduled a flush for Corona. These embryos are from our first flush of Corona - the remainder will be implanted at Buckeye Cattle Company. We’re excited about this mating! Make sure you call us when you get yours on the ground!

Waukaru Kiss 6041 is a young solid red female by Waukaru Carnegie. Her dam, Waukaru Kiss 171, pictured here, is a fabulous daughter of the Australian import, Dunbeacon Venture – a bull known for producing exceptional females with high quality udders and strong maternal performance. This should be a great mating - the best in outcross genetics combined with SULL-GNCC Salute for even more added quality.

BBS Connie B617 is visually one of the most impressive beef animals you’ll find anywhere. At 12 years of age, with a calf at side, she still looks amazing. She works time and time again with both Shorthorn and club calf sires and produces cattle with an exceptional look and extreme stoutness.
Both the mating to CF Epic, the full brother to CF Trump, and Casper are proven with several wins to their credit including a Casper bull calf that sold at three months of age for a herd sire prospect. No matter whether you get steers or heifers, you’ll get stout made calves that will excel in the show ring and make you money in the sale ring. THC/PHAF
