Distillation Columns (ADU / VDU)
Particularly on heavier hydrocarbons and residue lines,
conventional inline flow measurement technologies, such as DP
meters, often struggle with impulse line clogging causing opera-
tional and safety issues. FLEXIM‘s WaveInjector® measures from
the outside of the pipe wall, independent of the internal pressure
and temperature, solvingflow applications such as:
→ Crude oil heating prior to ADU
→ ADU outlets with various distillates
→ Overflash circulation
→ ADU and VDUresidues
→ LVGO outlets
→ HVGOoutlets
→ Slop oil
Moreover, with the WaveInjector® there is no need for process
interruption during installation and preventive maintenance is
not required.
Coking (DCU) and Visbreaking
Delayed coking works under extreme process conditions with the
highly viscous and particle-loaded medium tending to already
coke before reaching the drum.
For this reason, very reliable but also accurate flow rate monito-
ring at the coker feed lines is essential to prevent such prematu-
re coke formation and avoid operational safety risks.
The WaveInjector® has proven its high reliabil-ity in such extre-
me conditions again and again without showing any measure-
ment drift, without causing internal pressure drops and offering
a virtually maintenance-freesolution.
Hydrocracking (HCU)
Hydrocracking operates at high temperatures and pressu-
re ranges with highly dynamic flow rates. Such conditions
place high demands on the inline flowmeters used, such as
Vortex meters, and often require NACE-compliant material
certificates. Being mounted outside the pipe wall, the Wave-
Injector® never poses a safety risk to the process by itself.
Given this advantage, the ultrasonic measurement system
has already been put in place at many HCU loop control points
with pipe temperatures up to 400°C and pressure rates of
around 200 bar.
In addition to the safety aspect, non-intrusive ul trasonic flow
measurement is also maintenance-free and does not require any
process interruption for installation which in turn makes it a very
cost-efficientmetering solution.
For measuring hydrogen streams, FLEXIM also provides non-
intrusive ultrasonic gas flowmeter solutions eliminating the risk
for potential leaks.
Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC)
Flowmeters in FCC reflux lines or fractionator bottoms face the
challenge of abrasive catalyst particles in slurry causing a high
degree of wear and tear on any inline measurement systems.
FLEXIM’s clamp-on ul trasonic flowmeters are neither affected by
abrasion,nor are theya leakage risk.
Tank Storage - Hydrocarbon Product
Identificationand Tank Dewatering
With the FLUXUS® HPI meter, it is possible to combine flow me-
tering with hydrocarbon product identification. As hydrocar-
bon products can be distinguished through the ul trasonic signal,
the FLUXUS® HPI meter is the meter of choice in tank storage
applications when different hydrocarbons are successively
passing through the lines. Moreover, it is also the ideal tool for
tank dewatering applications as water / hydrocarbon cuts can
clearly be detected.
Portable Flow and Energy Surveys
Not every measurement point within a refinery needs to be
constantly monitored by a permanent meter. Thus, it is helpful
to use FLEXIM‘s range of hazardous area portable liquid and gas
flowmeters for regular surveys and check metering / verifica-
tion tasks. With the use of non-intrusive temperature probes,
FLEXIM‘s portable flowmeters also allow thermal energy
measurements for efficiency monitoring of heat exchangers or
plant wideenergy audits.

SpecificallyDesigned forDemandingEnvironments
From Oil & Gas Exploration and Production
to Petrochemical and Chemical Processing
From wellhead to refinery, the flows of crude oil, natural gas and refined products
need to be measured every stepof the way. Harsh environments with corrosiveatmospheres offshore or hot and dirty applications during crude oil refining require
tough solutions.
Also during chemical processing, liquid mediasuch as acids, caustics as well as
highlyviscous organic substancesor highlypressurised gas lines placeenormousmaterial and mechanicalstress upon wetted flow measurement technologies.
FLEXIM offers the better alternative:
→ Dual core processor, fastest response time, even for super low flow and super high flow, the performance always be perfect and unapproachable.
→ Transi t-time and noise trace based measurements, not m atter any kinds of tough application, measurement a lways be stable and reliable .
→ The measurement system can never be the cause for a potential pipe leak, cannotbe prone to clogging andis virtuallymaintenance-free.
→ It is suitable for all pipe sizes from 10 mm (3⁄8 inch) diameter upwards, with no
limitation on pipe material, wall thickness and media temperature.
→ FLEXIM‘s ul trasonic flowmeters offer exceptional reliability and accuracy even at
high and low flows due to their matched, calibrated and temperature compensa-ted transducer pairs as well as sophisticated internal signal processing.
→ With measurement from outside of the pipe wall, the system offers a long lifeti-me as well as high energy efficiency as pressure losses inside the pipe canbe
avoided.
FLEXIM’s permanentlyfixed installation and portableflowmeters for
explosive andhazardous areashave already beenproven worldwide inmany demanding applications with major operators.

The rugged FLUXUS® F/G 7/80X ultrasonic flow
meters just got stronger:
The FLUXUS® F/G 7/80X are ATEX / IECEx Zone 2 as well as FM Class I, Division 2
approved and have all the benefits of our standard FLUXUS flow meters but in acorrosion resistant Stainless Steel 316L / 1.4404 housing, ideal for any application
where the flow meter is exposed to high humidity, moisture, corrosive coastal
environments as well as offshore.
The flow meters allow for an inherently bi -directional flow measurement of
volume and mass flow rates of nearly any liquid and gaseous media - from crude oiland natural gas to refined products - and can be equipped with various outputs to be
used for a sophisticated process control.
As the ul trasonic transducers are mounted on the outside of the pipe wall, enclosedin the rugged and corrosion resistant stainless steel VARIOFIX mounting fixture, the
system does not suffer from wear, tear or clogging andcan‘t be a risk for leaks.
And with the same matched and paired transducers as well as the internal
temperature compensation (compliant to ANSI/ASME regulations), the measurement
system is drift f ree and zero stable. Moreover, as the transducers calibration data isautomatically loaded by connecting the transducers to the transmitter, set-up times
are significantly reduced.
Leveraging its exceptional dual-µP technology, the high number of measuring
cycles per second and the adaptive signal processing, the FLUXUS® F705 and G705
flow meters produce stable and reliable measuring results even under extremeenvironmental conditions.
