TOPIC: ENGINEERING
Engineering is the study and application of mathematics, physics and chemistry, to develop
economical solutions to solve the technical problems.
Engineering contributes to solving the material individual and collective needs of people, and
through the satisfaction of those needs represents society, supports the development and
generates wealth.
Furthermore the engineer is responsible for resolving the problems encountered in society. For
instance:
Power engineering is responsible for efficiently distribute electrical energy in a city. Civil
engineering allows the construction of bridges in order to facilitate vehicular traffic.
Petroleum engineering is used to extract and refine hydrocarbons in a safe and feasible way.
It is categorized into the following three specializations; drilling, reservoir and production.
Petroleum engineering allows the production of fuel for vehicles and machinery. And the Petrol
is created through the blending and refinement of hydrocarbons (crude oil and natural gas are
the two most commonly used hydrocarbons).
In conclusion, the job of engineering is combine the fields of science such as physics,
mathematics, and chemistry to solve real world problems and improve the world around us.
