West African Gas Pipeline
McDonnell was contracted as the main Local Content
Partner for the Construction of the West African Gas
Pipeline (WAPCo) – a 600km cross-country gas pipeline
linking gas reserves in Nigeria to Ghana, Togo and Benin
WAPCo works included integrated EPC services requiring
the provision of various Infrastructure Development works
and an extensive range of Haulage services.
Major works awarded by two American companies -
principal contractors as follows:
Willbros USA Inc.: Construction of Regulating and Metering
(R&M) Stations at Lome (Togo), Tema and Takoradi (Ghana)
Horizon Marine Construction USA Inc.: Construction of three
sub-sea Tie-in Cages at McDonnell’s facility in the Tema Dry
Dock, which were subsequently installed at Lome (Togo),
Cotonou (Benin) and Tema (Ghana)

Marine Construction of Texas for the construction of R & M
stations and three sub-sea tie-in cages.
