Ransome Direct Fired VaporizersTheory of Operation
The RH Series vaporizer consists of a vertical ASME rated pressure vessel which is directly heated by a gas fired burner. The burner consumes a smallportion of vapor from the vessel to develop the heat required for vaporization.
As liquid enters the vessel, it begins to vaporize as heat is absorbed from the warm heat exchanger. This causes the vapor temperature to decrease.
The operating temperature switch monitors vapor temperature and signals the gas control valve to fire the burner when vapor temperature drops below set point (120 degrees F / 48.9 degrees C).
Ransome Modesl RH50 thru RH120 use a mechanical liquid level control system that consists of a mechanical inlet valve, which is actuated by a stainless steel ball located inside the vessel. If the liquid level rises above the desired level, the float will lift off the inlet valve lever allowing it to close, preventinga liquid carryover. Once the level drops, the inlet valve will re-open.
Ransome models RH200 thru RH1000 (except RH240) use an electrically operated liquid level control system which consists of an external float switchand solenoid valve. If the liquid rises above the desired level, the float wil close the solenoid valve to prevent liquid carryover.

RW Series Water-Bath Vaporizer
The RW Series vaporizer consists of a vertical ASME pressure vessel, submerged in a water-bath and heat-ed by a gas fired burner. Millivolt poweredburner controls maintain consistent watertemperature.
They respond well to fluctuation in demand and are an excellent choice in cold climates or were heavy ends are a problem. Capacities are available from 100 to 900 gallons per hour.
ID Series Water-Bath Horizontal Vaporizer
The ID Series vaporizer consists of a horizontal ASME pressure vessel, submerged in a heated water-bath. A microprocessor based burner control system controls the firing of a forced draft burner to maintain water temperature. They are designed for continuous, unattended duty in all climates with capacities available from 500 to 6000 GPH making them an excellent choice for utilities and large industrial applications.

Ransome Electric Vaporizers
RE Series Electric Vaporizer
The RE Series vaporizer consists of a vertical carbon steel ASME pressure vessel that is electrically heated with replaceable cartridge heating elements. They are microprocessor controlled and perform well under adverse weather conditions.
All units are rated for Class I, Div II hazardous locations and require less set-back than gas fired vaporizers.
Capacities are available from 25 to 400 GPH.
RE-A Series Electric Vaporizer (Economy)
The RE-A Series Economy vaporizer utilizes the same pressure vessel, heating elements and operating controls as the standard models but it constructed without a cabinet. Functionally, it is identical to our standard electric vaporizer, with all the same features and benefits.
RE Series Electric Tank Heater
The RE Series tank heater consists of a horizontal ASME pressure vessel fitted with a (pressure operated) flanged immersion heater. Tank heaters are used to maintain pressure by supplementing the natural vaporization capabilities of the storage tank during peak demand or other conditions that cause a loss of tank pressure.
Capacities are available from 12 to 600 GPH.

Ransome Steam/Water VaporizersVS Series Steam Vaporizer
The VS Series vaporizer consists of a vertical shell and tube heat exchanger that is heated by saturated steam at 15 to 50 psig. Steam and condensate flows are accurately controlled to maintain the desired vapor temperature.
They are designed for continuous, unattended duty inhazardous locations with capacities ranging from 55 to 11,800 GPH, making them an excellent choice for large industrial applications where steam is available.
VS Series Hot Water Vaporizer
The VS Series hot water vaporizer is a steam heated unit that has been adapted for use with 180 degree hot water, which reduces its capacity by 50%. Water flow is accurately controlled to maintain vapor temperature.
They are designed for continuous, unattended duty in hazardous locations with capacities ranging from 27 to 5,900 gallons per hour, making them an excellent choice for large industrial application where a source of hot water is available.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
VHW Series Hot Water Vaporizers are designed and
engineered to provide an economical and dependable
source of LP-Gas vapor for a wide range of applications
from 280 GPH up to 5,900 GPH. Standard units are
completely self-contained requiring connection of LP-Gas
inlet and outlet, hot water inlet and water outlet. All are
factory tested on propane and ready for use.
HOW THEY WORK
The VHW Series Hot Water Vaporizer uses a thermally
actuated control system to regulate the flow of hot water
into a shell and tube heat exchanger. The thermal system
consists of a liquid filled diaphragm actuator connected by
means of a filled, semi-flexible capillary tube to a partially
filled sensing bulb inserted in the LP-Gas vapor stream. As
temperature at the sensing bulb increases (as would occur
during a low LP-Gas flow condition), the fluid in the bulb
partially vaporizes, applies pressure to the diaphragm and
closes the valve. As temperature at the sensing bulb
decreases (during a higher LP-Gas flow condition), the fluid
would recondense, reducing pressure on the diaphragm
and opening the valve. Depending on gas flow conditions,
the valve will throttle the flow of hot water to maintain the
desired temperature range.
LIMITS AND SAFETY FEATURES
ASME Code Heat exchange pressure vessels. The
shell is constructed of rugged carbon steel for high
strength and good heat exchange characteristics.
The removable, field replaceable tube bundle is con-
structed entitrely of stainless steel to ensure long life
and corrosion resistance.
Ransome’s unique liquid level switch configuration.
The high liquid level switch prevents liquid from enter-
ing the outlet.
Inlet solenoid valve with bypass back check valve. The
solenoid valve, in conjunction with the high liquid level
switch, closes the inlet preventing the liquid from
spilling over into the outlet.
Bottom hot water feed protects against freeze up. The
warm water is constantly warmed by incomming hot
water. Even if the vaporizing temperature in the shell
falls below freezing, there is no risk of the warm water
freezing with the resultant bursting of the tube.
ASME stamped safety relief valve. Each vaporizer unit
is adequately protected in accordance with NFPA 58
and California Title 8 codes.
All sizes are capable of infinite turndown and will
maintain a ready supply of vapor from zero load to full
capacity.

M Series Venturi Mixer
The M Series mixer uses a venturi to produce a propane/air mixture with a heating value equivalent to natural gas. When connected to an indirect fired vaporizer they are ideal for use in hazardous locations due to their Class I Div II rating. With output pressues of 5-30 psig and capacities from 14.7 to 103.2 million BTU/HR they are an affordable choice in standby equipment for many commercial, agricultural and industrial applications.
PAMW Series Water-Bath Vaporizer/Air Mixer
The PAMW Series vaporizer/mixer consists of an RW series vaporizer and an M series mixer packaged together to produce a propane/air mixtureequivalent to natural gas. With output pressues of 5-30 psig and capaciities from 14.7 to 103.2 million BTU/HR they are the most affordable choice for those applications requiring a water-bath vaporizer
ST750 Surge Tank
The ST750 Surge Tank is a necessary part of every PAM, PAMW and M Series mixer installation due to their cycling nature. The tank has a 750 gallon water capacity and is ASME rated for 50 psig. Designed with flanged openings, it will connect to the mixer directly or with the optional 5 ft. spool connector. The ST750 Trim Kit completes theinstallation with the necessary relief valve and accessories.
PAM Series Direct-Fired Vaporizer/Air Mixer
The PAM Series vaporizer/mixer consists of an RH series vaporizer and an M series mixer packaged together to produce a propane/air mixture with a heating value equivalent to natural gas. With output pressure from 5 - 30 psig and capacities from 14.7 to 103.2 million BTU/HR they are the simplest and most affordable choice in standby equipment for many commercial, agricultural and industrial applications.

LP-Gas is a highly concentrated source of energy, with 2516 BTU’s per cubic foot fross heat content. It is too rich to use as a direct substitute for natural gas without the proper dilution.
Ransome Manufacturing’s series of Mixers or Vaporizer/Mixers blends in just the right amount of air for an equivalent mixture.
A mixture with specific gravity of 1.21 (1480 BTU/Cu. Ft.) will approximately match 0.6 specific gravity natural gas with 1000 BTU/Cu. Ft. gross heat content.
PAME Series Electric Vaporizer/Air Mixer
The PAME Series vaporizer/mixer consists of an RE Series vaporizer and an M series mixer packaged with an integral 500 gallon surge tank. Compact in size with a Class I, Div II rating, it is ideal for sites with minimal clearance. With capacities of 7.3 and 14.7 million BTU/HR, it is a simple and compact option in standby equipment for many commercial and small industrial applications.
MPM Series Modulating Proportioning Mixer

Ransome Electric LP-Gas VaporizerStandard Features:
• Ransome’s unique mechanical liquid level inlet valve. It provides positive shutoff of LP-Gas liquid, preventing liquid from entering the outlet.
• Electronic Temperature Controller. The controller operates the heater circuit(s) for the desired outlet vapor temperature set point. The controller also monitors for high temperature and turns off heater in the event of a high temperature condition.
• Electric resistance heater. Provides the heat required for vaporization.
