VALVES & SEATS Scomi Oiltools offers a full range of valves and seats for triplex mud pumps. Two styles of valves and seats that can be utilised for all drilling conditions are recommended.

Stem Guide (Cross Arm) StyleThe Stem Guide (4 web or cross arm) design valves and seats are manufactured to API specifications and features premium carburized alloy steel, which provides an extra wide metal to metal sealing area on the valve flange and the rigid cross-arms give greater strength for positive sealing.

PISTONS Scomi Oiltools offers 4 types of Pistons, which are designed and manufactured to provide maximum performance under rigorous drilling conditions. The pistons are designed to withstand abrasive drilling fluids and perform in high pressure and high temperature conditions, in either water or oil based mud systems. All of our pistons come with adapter sleeves, making it compatible with both the 11/2” and 15/8” piston rods.

Replaceable Rubber Piston AssemblyScomi Oiltools replaceable rubber type pistons are fully interchangeable with other API designed pistons. These pistons are made from a high grade of Buna N rubber compound bonded to a heavy duty, multi-ply waterproof fabric backing, which has a high tensile strength, and resistance to abrasive, chemical and hydrocarbon components; hence, providing an optimum service life. The piston hub is manufactured from forged heated high alloy steel.

• Working pressures up to 5,000 psi.• Operates in both oil based mud and water based mud applications.• Removable rubber insert.

FLUID ENDPUMP PARTS

Single Durometer Urethane Bonded PistonThe Single Durometer Urethane Bonded Piston is constructed from urethane and bonded to a solid metal piston body. Under cooling water, these pistons are designed for resistance to extrusion abrasion. This type of piston is highly recommended for oil based mud drilling environments.

• Urethane Bonded Piston. • Operating temperatures up to 175º F.• Optimum performance in OBM. • Operating pressures up to 5,000 psi.

Dual Durometer Urethane Bonded PistonThese pistons are designed to meet pressures up to 7500 psi and temperatures up to 220º F. The difference is in the uniquely designed piston head, where two different urethane compounds are bonded together for superior performance. The Dual Durometer Urethane Bonded Piston has the longest service life. Dual Durometer Urethane Bonded Pistons are designed and recommended for non-aqueous mud systems. Longer piston life equates to longer liner life. This greatly reduces the cost associated with mud pump expendables, and the time involved in replacing the pistons and liners in the field.

• Two urethane compounds bonded. • Optimum performance in non-aqueous mud.• Superior lip design. • Operating pressures up to 7,500 psi (HP).• Stronger seal point. • Operating temperatures up to 220º F.

High Temperature Urethane Bonded PistonThe High Temperature Urethane Bonded Piston has a bonded dual hardness of 45% more urethane than conventional urethane pistons. This is mainly utilised for high temperature application.

• Operating temperatures ranging from 20º F to 325º F.• Operating pressure range: 1,000 – 7,500 psi.• 45% more urethane than conventional urethane pistons.• Fully compatibility with all existing piston rods and liners.

Full Open StyleThe Full Open design valves and seats are manufactured to API specifications from premium carburized alloy steel designed for use in 7500 psi applications with a greater fluid flow through the full open seat. It also provides easier valve maintenance with its uni-body construction design, which is designed with a snap-on insert eliminating plates and snap rings to hold the insert in place for easier installation. This combination design improvement can handle the use of lost circulation material with improved performance, the seating angle improves flow characteristics and the heavy duty load bearing area capacity greatly improves service life.

We provide 3 different options of valve insert type for various drilling conditions.The recommended inserts for our range of valves are as follows:

Ceramic-Zirconia LinerScomi Oiltools Ceramic–Zirconia liners are manufactured from Zirconia, which is a harder and stronger material compared to Alumina (another type of Ceramic). The Ceramic-Zirconia liner offers a service life of 8 to 10 times that of a High Chrome liner. The sleeve hardness is a minimum of 92 RC, with a smooth finish of a minimum of 4 – 8 RMS. These liners are manufactured with a HP lip design and are rated to the various mud pump performance specifications for the range of piston sizes.

• Zirconia more durable than Alumina. • 4 – 8 RMS sleeve smooth finish.• HP LIP design. • 8 – 10 times longer service life than • Hardness for sleeve surface 89 – 91 Rockwell. conventional metal liner.

Chrome Plated LinerThe Chrome Plated Liner has the same outer hull in lieu of the sleeve, machined to a maximum thickness. It is available for certain mud pump models and limited to certain sizes. The liner is manufactured from premium forged alloy steel and the internal surface area is Chrome Plated to a thickness of 0.01” – 0.015”. The inner liner hardness is 62 RC, with a polishing mirror finish.

• Hardness for inner liner > 60 Rockwell. • Chrome Plated with a thickness of • 16 – 20 RMS inner liner smooth finish. 0.01” – 0.015”.

LINERS Scomi Oiltools offers different types of liners that are manufactured to the tightest of tolerances; ID: + 0.010” / - 0.000” of the nominal liner size, which currently exceeds API specifications and consequently offers maximum service life. All of our liners are designed with an entry bevel for ease of piston installation. Our complete range of High Chrome and Ceramic-Zirconia liners are designed to perform in today’s drilling environment, and are suitable for high pressure (HP) and high temperature (HT) applications.

High Chrome LinerThe sleeve of this liner is manufactured from a High Chrome Iron material and the liner body manufactured from alloy steel. All of our Triplex pump liners are manufactured with a HP LIP design feature, which ensures prevention of sleeve slippage in high pressure operating conditions. These sleeves are manufactured from 26% chromium to withstand corrosion and the abrasive nature of drilling fluids. The centrifugally cast high chrome iron sleeve is machined to a satin smooth finish of 16 – 20 RMS and heat treated to a minimum hardness of 62 RC, which ensures maximum service life for all types of mud and high pressure applications.

• HP LIP design. • Hardness for sleeve surface > 60 Rockwell. • Sleeve made from 26% chromium. • 16 – 20 RMS sleeve smooth finish.

FLUID END MODULES & ACCESSORIES Scomi Oiltools offers completely interchangeable Fluid End Modules & Accessories with the OEM, and this range covers the most popular triplex mud pumps in today’s onshore and offshore drilling rigs. Our modules are made from high alloy steel, heat treated and forged under strict testing procedure. All products conform to the API 7K standard, which provides for a long lifetime in various abrasive mud conditions. The working pressure is up to 7,500 psi. Each module is coated with an anti-corrosion protector prior to shipment.

MUD COOLERS


CONCEPT

The Scomi Oiltools Mud Cooler System consists of a two-skid package, which contains the following components:

• Plate Heat Exchangers (Skid 1)

• Pipe Manifolds & Valves (Skid 2)

The 2 Plate Heat Exchangers (PHE) are manufactured from Titanium, which minimises corrosion from entrained oxygen or low pH drilling fluids or brines.

The plates within the Heat Exchangers are widely spaced to allow for the passage of highly viscous fluids with a high content of drilling brines.

Cooling is accomplished by circulating a cooling fluid (normally Seawater) through the coolant side of the heat exchanger by using a suitable centrifugal pump.

APPLICATION

The Scomi Oiltools Mud Cooler system is used to reduce the temperature of drilling fluid returning to the surface.

In HT / HP wells the temperature of the drilling fluid must be strictly controlled to keep its properties within the specified parameters for that particular well.

If the temperature of the drilling fluid is allowed to increase, then a variety of problems can occur such as high equivalent circulating density (ECD), formation breakdown, lost circulation, packing off, stuck pipe and evaporation of the oil and water phase.
