    OKLAHOMA HAY MARKET REPORT 1-3-13 Alfalfa movement mostly light over the past two weeks. Most movement wrapping up previous sales and contracts. Alfalfa de-mand light to moderate. Grass hay movement spotty with most areas reporting limited sales. Demand generally moderate follow-ing colder temperatures and wintry weather over the holidays. Many sellers demanding cash or cashier's checks and this has limited sales in some cases. The dry weather and cold temperatures have resulted in worsening drought conditions. Since September 1 the state has received less than 60 percent its normal rainfall. Alfalfa Central Oklahoma: Prices mostly steady. Premium to Supreme quality large squares bales 245.00-275.00, mostly 250.00-260.00. Good quality square and round bales 190.00-225.00. Utility to Fair quality 160.00-175.00. Horse quality small square bales 400.00-450.00. Alfalfa Eastern Oklahoma: Prices steady. Good quality 250.00. Fair quality 210.00-220.00. Small square bales horse quality 12.00-15.00 per bale. Western Oklahoma: Steady to firm. Fair quality including grassy alfalfa 200.00-225.00. Utility 175.00-200.00. Grass Hay Central Oklahoma: Prices steady, instances 5.00-10.00 higher. Fair to Good quality round bales mixed grass 4 X 5 40.00-70.00 per bale, mostly 40.00-60.00.     Oklahoma Direct Feeder Cattle Report Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 12/28/12-1/4/2013 Confirmed: 1420 Last Week: 861 Last Year: 4449 Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers lightly tested, limited sales 1.00-2.00 higher. Demand very good as cattle futures made advances coming into the new year. Slaughter cattle prices on the rise as well but at a snail's pace as cash prices lagging well below the February board. Weather remains dry though some winter storms moved thru the state over the holiday period limited moisture was available. Unless otherwise stated prices are FOB weigh point with a 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent and with a 5-10 cent slide on calves and 3-6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Current sales up to 14 days for delivery.     OKLAHOMA HAY MARKET REPORT 1-10-13 Alfalfa movement light under light to moderate demand. Supplies of Premium and Supreme quality dairy hay getting very tight. Lesser grades in moderate to good supply. Grass hay movement again spotty this week with most loads moving consisting of hay traded over the past two weeks. Bulk of interest this week on smaller quantities moving locally. Grass hay demand also light to moderate this week. Rain moved into the state yesterday but overall amounts are disappointing. Alfalfa Central Oklahoma: Prices steady. Premium to Supreme quality large squares bales 245.00-275.00, mostly 245.00-250.00. Good quality square and round bales 190.00-225.00. Utility to Fair quality 160.00-175.00. Horse quality small square bales 400.00-450.00. Alfalfa Eastern Oklahoma: Prices steady where tested. Good qual-ity 250.00, instances to 300.00. Fair quality 210.00-220.00. Small square bales horse quality 12.00-15.00 per bale. Western Oklahoma: Steady in thin test. Premium to Supreme quality untested.     Oklahoma Direct Feeder Cattle Report Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 1/11/2013 Confirmed: 2800 Last Week: 1420 Last Year: 4449 Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers steady to 2.00 higher. Demand very good as cattle futures made advances com-ing into the new year. Supply this week included 100 percent over 600 lbs and 25 percent heifers. Unless otherwise stated prices are FOB weigh point with a 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent and with a 5-10 cent slide on calves and 3-6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Alfalfa interest light from dairies and feedlots. Panhandle area reported light to moderate movement in corn stalks, wheat hay and millet hay. Localized sales of grass hay reported throughout western Oklahoma, much of this appears to be horse hay. Seller interest far greater than buyer interest, very different than last year. Demand extremely light from dairies and feedlots, mostly light to moderate from other sources. Deliveries of previ-ously purchased or contracted hay made up most movement but several new sales were confirmed on grass and wheat hay. Fore-casts for continued dry weather through Spring are causing great concern and beef producers continue to reduce herds in all parts of the state. Alfalfa Central Oklahoma: Prices steady.
