Joe Dorman (D-Rush Springs) introduced legislation earlier this week which would impose restrictions on the use of credit cards by students/minors. Status Reported as of January 23, 2003 SENATE BILLS SB 1 (Fisher/Peters) – SCHOOL READINESS. "Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness Act"; providing for support and assistance in achieving the reading goal for public schools that requires that, by May 1, 2007, at least 90 percent of third-grade students be reading at grade level; requiring the Department of Human Services to review the reading requirements for the Reaching for the Stars program, which requires that teachers read to children a minimum of 15 minutes per day to ensure compliance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001; creating a 25-member Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness Board until July 1, 2009; requiring the board to submit an annual report; authorizing the board to organize a private, nonprofit corporation; creating a Joint Legislative Oversight Committee for the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness, comprising five senators and five House members.
