The writer of the Proverbs writes, I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lack-ing sense, 31 and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. 32 Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruc-tion. 33 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, 34 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man. (Proverbs 24:30 ESV) The writer acknowledges the lesson he learned—sluggard-laziness, sleep and slumber leads to poverty. I wonder could we apply this to the church? I passed by the church of the sluggard, by the church of the man lacking sense, and it was …., ”Do we serve Christ in a sluggardly way?” “Does he get our leftover energy, the dregs of our time and the spirit of half-heartedness that says I guess I’ll do it be-cause nobody else will?” And if so, where does that take us? Christ and His church deserve our best. The people we serve for Him deserve our best. God is not a beggar seeking those that will do what nobody else will. He is a king looking for follower-servants who are honored and excited to invest in His kingdom. We are not volunteers! We are those who he has sought out and given a divine appointment. A “sit and soak” mentality is so foreign to Christ and His church. Christ invites us to take a “yoke.” Granted it is a well-fitted yoke. Nevertheless yokes are for pulling wagons and plows. How long has it been since you looked at Christ and asked “What can I give? What can I do in Your church?” Summer brings many opportunities, don’t waste them! See you in worship and Bible study, Dennis
The View From Here June 2016…….
A word from JJ
As we approach Father’s Day many of us grew up (especially when we were very young) thinking that our Dad’s knew everything…but
when we look to our Heavenly Father and see His design and the plans that He has for us it can, well it can boggle the mind…..I found
this in my daily devotions a while back and as the title says….here’s…..
Something to Think About
God's accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs. For example: the eggs of a canary hatch in 14 days. Those of the
barnyard hen in 21 days. The eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days. Those of the mallard in 35 days; and the eggs of the
parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days. Notice: they are all divisible by seven, the number of days in a week!
God's wisdom is also seen in the making of an elephant. The four legs of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No
other quadruped is so made. God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to live on two legs.
For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily.
The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first. A cow rises from the ground with its two hind legs first.
God's wisdom is also seen in His arrangement of sections and segments, as well as in the number of grains.
Each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the rind.
Each orange has an even number of segments.
Each ear of corn has an even number of rows.
Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains.
Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of banana, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even
number and the next row an odd number.
The waves of the sea roll in on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.
All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks.
The Lord specified thirty fold, sixty fold, and a hundred fold all even numbers.
God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the day.
The lives of each of you may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way for His glory, if you will only entrust Him with your life.
In His Love, Bro. Monty
Church, We are seeing God do amazing things in our student ministry. Students are being saved. Students are inviting. Students are growing. And I’ve been asked the question, why is this happening? The obvious answer is that God is moving in the lives of our students. However, I also believe a huge reason is our Volunteer Leaders are investing student’s lives. What I know is: 1 full time-time paid staff = 40 paid staff hours 10 volunteer leaders x 5 hours = 50 hours 90 hours invested in one week, 45 hours are completed by volunteers. That’s 50% more time than what can be spent by one full-time paid staff! That’s why I want to take a moment and honor our volunteer leaders! Becca Lane Annie Fox Tiffanie Hamon Kaitlin Galindo Josh Fox James Wynn Robert Wynn Brady Thorman Caleb Womack Levi Wright So my challenge to you church is the next time you see one these valued volunteers that you thank them for investing in the next generation.
