The project team developed three alternative options to provide access to municipal sanitary sewer in the area.
a) Install a larger diameter tunnel that maintains the original design.
b) Install a public sanitary lift station at the city 201 system property alongside the proposed storm water basin. This allows for the remaining sanitary sewer pipe to be raised up in elevation and removes the deep gravity sewer from the project.
c) Reroute the trunk gravity sewer to extend north along Lambert Avenue from 32nd Street North, and install a low-pressure sewer system with individual grinder pumps at each property, extending west from Lampert Avenue along 32nd Street North.

At the City Council meeting held July 6, 2021 the City Council provided direction to Staff to proceed with the lift station alternative to complete the project.
a) Sewer service to all properties remains unchanged.
b) No change to proposed assessments.
c) Project schedule - the contractor may proceed to begin street and utility work along 32nd Street. However, due to long lead and delivery times for lift station components, there will be a substantial delay in the new sewer being operational and ready for connection west of Lampert Avenue.
