OMAHA CITADEL WORSHIP CENTER 6.2019
On June 10th, The Citadel Corps will welcome Cadets Joshua & Darby Bowyer. Joshua & Darby will
be with us until mid August when they complete their summer assignment.
Darby Bowyer grew up in Sioux falls, SD and began attending the corps there at age seven. She
participated in every youth program offered there and attended Gene Eppley camp during the
summers. When she was 16 she became a camp counselor at Wonderland camp
in Wisconsin. In 2014 this is where she felt her calling to officership. Darby
enjoys spending time in nature and has a passion for working with children.
Joshua Bowyer was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois where he attended the Rockford Temple
Corps. He participated in every Corps activity offered by Rockford Temple and later led Explorers,
Band, Jr. High Sunday School, and Adult Sunday School. His call to officership came during a
Commissioning Sunday service in 2011. Joshua has a passion for music and has taught at divisional
and territorial music camps along with playing for the Chicago Staff Band prior to entering training.
Joshua and Darby met while involved in summer camp ministry at Wonderland Camp in 2012 and were married in
September, 2017. They have had the opportunity to serve together at the Rockford Temple Corps in local leadership
positions, but are excited to experience a more official team ministry this summer here at The Omaha Citadel.

GREETINGS CITADEL FAMILY,
The last days of the school year are behind us and summer is in full swing! Camping season is upon us and we are all still mourning the loss of our beloved Gene Eppley camp. This place holds such fond memories, and many of us have had life changing moments at Gene Eppley as well as other summer camps. In spite of the devastation the floods caused this
spring, we will still be making wonderful camp memories. Deadlines are quickly approaching, so please see Matt Walter if your child would like to attend camp this summer.
Unlike the changes in the season and temperature, change of appointment did not happen for us! We are grateful for the opportunity to continue in ministry here with our family as the corps officers of the Omaha Citadel corps. We are excited for the opportunities that the rest of 2019 and 2020 will bring for all of us as we consistently strive to make the Renaissance Village Campus a fully integrated mission campus! Our wish is for all to feel welcome and safe when they walk through our doors. The Social Services leadership team here on the campus is striving to make sure each individual who seeks The Salvation Army for housing, community or behavioral health services will also have the opportunity to know that they are welcome and there is a place for them at The Omaha Citadel corps. Welcome baskets, referrals, staff training and a fully integrated Pathway of Hope approach in our Renaissance Housing are just a few ways we are sharing the love of Jesus Christ in very practical ways.
Captain Kevin has a presence in almost every program on the campus and we are seeing the blessings that come from a personal invitation to church. We are seeing the blessings of our new friends knowing that there is a Living God who loves them and a congregational family who every week is excited to see them and worship with them. Our encouragement to you, our faithful soldiers and church members, is to continue to step out of your comfortableness and welcome all who come seeking a place to belong.
You are loved much and we are grateful to continue this ministry with you. Have a blessed June!
HELLO FRIENDS,
Last month I had the privilege of attending the ARC Alumni Retreat at Wonderland Camp in Wisconsin. Simon and I, along with 10 Omaha ARC alumni,
spent May 17-19 at camp where we attended workshops, spent time in prayer, recovery meetings, and recreation. We had the opportunity to hear speakers Capt. Cory Hughes, Justin Polsley, Commander Randy Polsley, and special guest Col. Steven Howard. I was especially blessed by the workshop “There is Joy in Recovery,” taught by Jeff Jones, who instructed us in mindful-ness, decision making, dealing with anger and resentment, and gave us tools for use in recovery. I came back renewed and encouraged, and am excited to pass along what I learned in Celebrate Recovery here at The Citadel and at the Omaha ARC! You are all welcome to join us Friday nights at 7:00pm and Sundays at 1:00pm and 3:00pm at The Citadel. On Saturday, June 1 at 6:00pm we will begin a weekly Celebrate Recovery meeting at the ARC, 2525 Dodge St.
Many Blessings, Captain Kevin
