Given that both films are much talked about, it is likely to be quite a clash. Salman on Friday shared a photograph of the entire "Race 3" team on the micro-blogging website, and drew attention towards "how hot, cool, sweet, charming and sexy" Ramesh Taurani looks. Presented by Tips Industries Ltd, "Race 3" is produced by Ramesh S. Taurani. It also features Saqib Saleem, Bobby Deol and Daisy Shah. On the other hand, "Fanney Khan", a musical comedy film, is being directed by Atul Manjrekar. The film is being jointly produced by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, KriArj Entertainment and T- Series. It is the official remake of the Oscar-nominated 2000 Dutch film "Everybody's Famous!". NEW DELHI, (IANS) Actor Arjun Kapoor says his upcoming film "Namastey Canada" is very entertaining. "Parineeti and I are going to shoot for Dibakar Banerjee's film and after that, we will do 'Namastey Canada'. It is releasing December 7 next year. That's a com- plete enter tainer," Arjun told IANS. "Namastey Canada" will be Arjun's third with Parineeti, with whom he first fea- tured in "Ishaqzaade" and will also share screen space within Banerjee's "Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar". The actor, 32, hopes that the film would be a good change for the audience. "Hopefully it will be a nice change of palette for people who will see us in Dibakar sir's film and 'Namastey Canada' in the same year," he added. Filmmaker Vipul Shah will direct "Namastey Canada", which will be shot in the serene locations of Punjab and Canada. It is set to release on August 3, 2018. MUMBAI, (IANS) Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan says she shared knowledge about Hindi filmdom with Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of sexual misconduct. Farah recently shared the image on Twitter, and said that she gave some "Bollywood gyaan (knowledge)" to Weinstein from the shoot of the superstar Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Main Hoon Na", which was largely shot in Darjeeling. "Found this! Throwback of all throwbacks! Me giving Bollywood gyaan (knowledge) to Harvey Weinstein! Before the sh*t hit the fan. 'Main Hoon Na' shoot," Farah captioned the image. It was earlier reported that Weinstein was "secretly" here in 2003. SC REFUSES PLEA TO BAN RELEASE OF 'PADMAVATI' NEW DELHI, (IANS) The Supreme Court on Friday refused a plea seeking to ban the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's con- troversial "Padmavati" epic drama featuring Deepika Padukone as a Rajput queen. The court said it could not intervene since the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was yet to decide about its certification. The film, which also stars Shahid Kapoor as Rawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as invader Alauddin Khilji, is set for release on December 1. The movie has been a subject of many controversies. Some Hindu groups and politi- cal parties, including the Congress and the BJP , claim that the film distorts history and wrongly portrays Padmavati, a conten- tion Bhansali has rebuffed. KOLKATA, (PTI) Batting for long in a manner that of ten seemed unreal, India skipper Virat Kohli on Wednesday said he too needs rest from the gruelling international schedule since he is "not a robot". Kohli has played seven Tests, 26 ODIs and 10 T20 internationals in 2017, the most by any player in the Indian team. "Definitely I do need a rest, why don't I. When I think of the time my body should be rested I will ask for it, why not. I'm not a robot, you can slice my skin and check if I still bleed," Kohli told repor ters on the eve of the first Test against Sri lanka. The India skipper also played 10 matches at the Indian Premier League's 10th season, and had warned about burnout. "This is one thing I don't think people explain properly. There's a lot of talk from outside in terms of workload whether a player should be rested or not. For example all cricketers play 40 games a year. Three guys who should get rest their workload are to be man- aged. Not everyone in the XI would have batted 45 overs or not everyone would have bowled 30 overs in a Test. But the guys who are doing that regularly are the ones who need to be assessed. His supreme athleticism on the field has rubbed onto other play- ers in the side and they vouched for it. "I don't think people look at the times spent on the crease, the number of runs, the number of overs, the conditions etc. I don't think people will go into that analysis. Everyone play same number of games. "For example Pujara will have maximum workload because he spends maximum time at the crease as his game is built that way. You can't compare that to a counter-attacking batsman because the workload would have been lesser.

Director Tanuja Chandra's "Qarib Qarib Singlle" is a typical Mills and Boon fare, arom-com in the dot com age, where two drastically opposites meet on the darkweb and weave a romance that's difficult to digest, nevertheless, it makes for aperfect fantasy narrative. Jaya, a young widow after leading a staid life trying tomake others happy, decides to add some zest in her own world, by registering onto an online dating site 'Ab Tak Singlle'. Soon, she is inundated by inane messages, including some obscene ones from fellow singles. Her online conversations zero down to messages from Yogi and they decide tomeet at a coffee shop. The meetings escalate to the duo deciding to take a road tripto three different destinations to meet Yogi's ex-friends. The premise is definitelyinteresting but the plot seems forced and laboured with a verbose exposition, flatand one-dimensional characters with cliched motivation and no shades of grey.Initially, Yogi appears to be a stalker, but soon that aspect dissipates and he is thenseen like a harmless soul in his own world. This is emphasised when the duo havea showdown in a restaurant when Jaya blasts him saying, "Everything is aboutyou". The showdown appears forced as their equation yo-yos, but the ripple isineffective. Also, the montage of Jaya breaking from her shackles is unimaginativeand lazily presented.

Though the chemistry between the lead pair seems forced and does not touch yourheart, it is the brilliant performances and the cheeky one-liners which are deliv-ered with elan that keep you hooked. Irrfan Khan as the motor-mouth poet Yogi isirritatingly funny, sincere and charming. His character is supposed to be quirky andrich and he portrays this with flourish.Parvathy is convincing as Jaya, the South Indian executive working in the healthsector. She is every inch the workaholic girl who desires to be free but yet ispretentiously tied down by societal norms. She is effective and emotes with aptprecision. In underwritten roles, Pushtii Shakti, Neha Dhupia and Isha Sharvani asYogi's ex-girlfriends are perfunctory. On the technical front, the film is moderatelymounted with excellent production values. Though the look and feel of the filmseems oft-seen, the production design and camerawork are attractive. What elevates the viewing experience is the poetry and songs used in the narrative. The old number, "Bade achche lagte hai" is optimally exploited to push the romancebetween the two forward. But the numbers "Jaane de", "Tu chale to" and "Khatamkahani" add intense shades to the narrative, giving the film a soft sensitive feel.Overall, "Qarib Qarib Singlle" is a well-made, light, frothy rom-com that does nottouch you emotionally.

'SHAADI MEIN ZAROOR AANA'WEDDING WORTH ATTENDING

CAST: RAJKUMMAR RAO, KRITI KHARBANDA,

GOVIND NAMDEO

DIRECTOR: RATNAA SINHA

RATING: ***

Set against the backdrop of Kanpur, "Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana" is alove story of Satyendra aka Sattu (Rajkummar Rao), a clerk in agovernment office and Aar ti (Kriti Kharbanda), a bright ambitious girlwho aspires to become a government officer, but is not encouragedby her father to study too much. How the couple meet for a proposedmarriage alliance, fall in love and yet, end up not getting marriedowing to an unexpected event on their wedding day, forms the crux ofthe story. Nar rated in a linear manner, the film is quite straightforwardand it is undoubtedly in the second half, with the unusual twist at halftime, that the plot gets intriguing. The first half showcases how theymeet to please their parents, but owing to their similar thinking, hit itoff well and fall in love. The writing, like the plot, is simple and un-complicated. It is the performances by the entire case that keep youriveted to the screen. Save the scene in the second half whereSatyendra, a deputy magistrate himself, goes to Aar ti's house with asearch warrant and turns the house topsy-turvy, which appears a bitfar-fetched, the characters are well-etched and believable.

Director Ratnaa Sinha effectively recreates the milieu where clearingCivil Services exams, are given impor tance and a government job isconsidered the ultimate achievement. The dreams and aspirations ofthe members of both families - Shuklas and Mishras - their middleclass concerns about dowry, not educating daughters too much andgetting them married on time, are real and palpable.Rajkummar Rao as Satyendra, the simple and well-mannered boyfrom a middle class family who loses his hear t to Aarti and dreamsabout a happy life with her, is endearing from the word go. He slipsinto the character, complete with his rustic accent, shy demeanourand unambitious nature. The contrast, post interval, is thus even morepraisewor thy when he transforms into a supposedly ruthless, re-vengeful human being, devoid of feelings. Kriti Kharbanda as the ef-fervescent and ambitious Aar ti packs a punch in her per formanceand meets Rajkummar Rao shoulder-to-shoulder in every scene. Beit her euphoria of being in love or the devastation upon being accused, she is convincing and you empathise with her.

DON'T THINK ICC HAS POWER TO PURSUEBCCI TO PLAY PAKISTAN: WASIM AKRAMLAHORE, (IANS) Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram on Friday hit out at the International Cricket Council's (ICC) inability to pursuethe BCCI to play a bilateral series with Pakistan. Akram, popularly known as the Sultan of Swing, said it is very unfor tunate that youngcricketers from Pakistan and India are unable to play against each other. The 51-year-old lashed out at the ICC for failing to initiate anIndia-Pakistan series which he felt should be separated from politics."I don't think ICC has the power to pursue BCCI, but again I have always said people-to-people contact is necessary. Politics and spor tshould be separate," Akram was quoted as saying by Geo TV. The legendary lef t-arm pacer fur ther said that an India-Pakistan clash ismore exciting to watch than the high-octane Ashes series between traditional rivals England and Australia. "A Pakistan-India match ismore fun to watch than the Ashes. Twenty million people watch the Ashes while a Pakistan-India match is watched by a billion people,"emphasised Akram, who took 502 wickets from 356 ODIs. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in 2014, had agreed to playsix bilateral series with Pakistan from 2015 to 2023, four of which were to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). However, with political tensions across the border, the BCCI has refused to play any of the agreed series yet, neither in Pakistan nor at any neutralvenue. The arch-rivals, however, met in ICC tournaments with the Champions Trophy final in June being the latest when the SarfrazAhmed-led Green Brigade thrashed Virat Kohli's side by 180 runs in London.

KOLKATA, (IANS) Unlike Cheteshwar Pujara, Indiawicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha does not feel theSri Lanka series star ting from Thursday will help in prepar -ing for the upcoming South Africa tour early next year. Indiablanked a hapless Sri Lanka in their own lair 9-0 across allformats in August and the Dinesh Chandimal-led side are notexpected to wreak havoc here as well. India have been near-invincible at home in recent times and in the upcoming threeTests, three ODIs and three T20s, they are also expected towin convincingly. Pujara recently said that the series wouldgive him a "good oppor tunity" to prepare for the toughassignment ahead. Saha, though, said on Monday that everyseries is a challenge on its own and they cannot think ofSouth Africa just yet. "Every Test is a challenge. Sri Lankaseries is not a preparation for South Africa. If we do wellhere, then we can think of South Africa," Saha told repor terson the sidelines of India's first practice session at the EdenGardens here.India will play three Tests, six ODIs and three T20internationals against the Proteas. The first Test is onJanuary 5 in Cape Town. Asked about fatigue of the playerscoming into the series after playing against the Aussies inODIs and T20s and also in the Ranji Trophy, Saha said: "Inprofessional cricket everyone gets fatigued. The challenge isto recover well by exercises such as stretching. Good sleep

at night is the most impor tant, then strength training session...everything combined... it works."Saha said Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami are thetoughest to keep against while among the spinners,Ravichandran Ashwin is way ahead with his variety of deliver-ies. "Ishant and Shami are the toughest to keep against as theball wobbles after crossing the wicket. It gets tough to catch fora keeper. In Umesh (Yadav) and Bhuvi's (Bhuvneshwar Kumar)case, this does not happen a lot as they are swing bowlers.Ashwin is ahead among the spinners as far as keeping difficultyis concerned. Ashwin has more variation than Jaddu (RavindraJadeja) and Kuldeep (Yadav)... so it is tougher," Saha said.Quizzed if the variety among the Indian tweakers makes Saha'sjob difficult as a keeper, the 33-year-old said: "Reading thehand is 50 per cent job done. After that, bounce of the wicketand whether it is turning or not matters. The challenge is tocatch all the balls." Saha said the longer you play together withthe same bunch, the better you can gauge them from behind thestumps. He was answering a question on Ashwin having a lot of varietyand whether that makes his job all the more difficult. "We haveplayed a lot together. As a wicket-keeper, the longer you keepyou get more idea. It is easier to keep against him now thanbefore." Regardless of the wicket at the Eden, Saha said theywould want to win the match and the series.
