Summary:Roles:

Design & development of Mechanical Enclosures for new defense products, sub-systems as well as optimize the existing products.

Designing housings with extruded beams, machined parts, sheet metal and riveting enclosures, composites structures etc.

Summary:Roles:

Design & development of Mechanical Enclosures for various Space & Defense/MIL grade Electronics Power supply modules, LRU’s, Subsystems, Hybrid Microelectronics circuits, Frequency controlled products, RF modules etc.

Designing mechanical packages/enclosures & other electronics hardware with machined parts & sheet metal parts from various metal like Aluminum Alloys, Magnesium, Kovar (ASTM F-15), Cold rolled steel (for making prototypes), OFE Copper C10100 (for making heat sinks/bus bars) etc with different surface finish depending on the end applications.

I have also worked in Vibration testing facility for three months understanding the testing methods, operating the shaker machine developing jigs & fixtures.

Multi output Power Supply (MOPS) Centum Electronics – Mechanical Design Engineer; Centre for Air Borne Systems (DRDO)

MOPS are a 6KW power supply designed for Airborne Radar application, mounted external to

the aircraft in the Antenna unit.

Material used to built the chassis is AL6061 T6 grade & surface treated with yellow Chromated, size was 596x148x90 mm having overall mass of 9 Kg. Fins of 15mm length & 1.5mm thickness were provided on either side for thermal dissipations through convection. Vertically mounted this power supply was designed for conduction cooling as well as convection cooling and to withstand vibration levels of 40G shock & 0.04 g2/Hz random vibration.

For testing this unit a cooling duct was designed with blower & fan on either side of the duct opening to test for actual conditions maintaining flow rate of 18 m/s & ambient of 71 ˚C.

72W DC – DC Converter Centum Electronics – Mechanical Design Engineer; ISRO Inertial Systems Unit (IISU)

72W DC-DC converter is a 9 output converter which is used in launch vehicle of all ISRO

programs. Material used to build the housing is AL6061 T651 grade and surface treated with black

Anodization, size was 205x135x33mm having mass of 850 gm. Vertically mounted this package was designed & tested for conduction cooling and to

withstand vibration levels of 105G shock & 0.04 g2/Hz random vibration & 10G sine vibration.

C - Band Transmitter Receiver Module (CQTRM) Centum Electronics – Mechanical Design Engineer; LRDE - DRDO

CQTRM is transmitter & receiver module used in defense radar applications. Designed to

accommodate RF modules, digital card & dc-dc power supply module in single housing having size is 220x118x17mm, built from AL 6061 T6 alloy and tin plated.

Thermal dissipation in this module is around 80W & conduction cooled, and will be mounted on the heat sink.

S-Band Transmitter Receiver Multi Module (STRMM) Centum Electronics – Mechanical Design Engineer; CABS - DRDO

STRMM is transmitter & receiver module used in defense radar applications. Designed to accommodate RF modules, digital card & dc-dc power supply module in single housing having size is 335x235x30mm, built from AL 6061 T6 alloy and tin plated.

This module is dissipating 250W and conduction cooled, and will be mounted on liquid cold plate.

Worked on other RF project, Quartz generator for RF seeker for RCI DRDO.

Radar Projects:

TRS – 3D RGBSI, Client: Airbus Defense & Space India - Mechanical Design Engineer

TRS 3S/16 ES is surveillance and target acquisition radar used for detection, localization,

classification and tracking of air and sea target objects, it's a high resolution NATO G band 3D multimode acquit ion radar system.

Involved in redesign and optimization of the antenna housing structural design to make the housing manufacturing friendly and mainly weight reduction. Size of the housing is around 2500x1500x760mm and weighing 345Kg with electronics.

Involved in CG and weight balancing calculations, structural design calculations etc. Procurement specification & local vendor development for fabrication of the housing and vendor

qualification. Concept design of TRS 4D radar housings.
