Vendor’s Foreword

The Sherborne flock was founded in 1965 with ewes from the famous breeder "Bunny"

Lenthall. Since then it has enjoyed winning many breed championships at most of the

major shows and the Associations sales. It was at the May Fair where the flock achieved

its highest ram prices of 3000gns, in 2012 with ‘Sherborne Storm’ and again in 2015

with a Saturn son, ‘Sherborne Wayfarer.’

The flock now runs over 400 pedigree ewes, which are all registered and individually

recorded with signet. Breeding stock is sold at breed sales and privately throughout

the year, with the remainder of the lambs being marketed through a breed producer's

group.

The sale we hope includes something for everyone. We have decided to offer some of

our older reliable ewes. It only seemed right to start our first ever production sale

with L297 and the decision to include S644 with a terminal index of 401 was not an

easy one. There are also a number of younger ewes and the two show shearlings, both

carrying twins for September.

The ewe lambs in the second part of the sale have been picked out to offer a wide

variety of sires and includes one of our Show lambs.

Health Status

All adult sheep are Footvaxed every February and all sheep are on the Heptavac P+

system. The flock are also MV Accredited.

Post-Sale Arrangements Sheep can stay on farm for 24 hours after sale if required. Purchasers may leave sheep

at Hill Street Farm for longer if arrangements have been made prior to the sale.

Auctioneer’s Comment

This exciting sale is a rare opportunity to buy top class pedigree genetics from one of

the breed’s most renowned flocks direct from the farm. As mentioned by Rob, this

sale includes something for everyone and is worthy of attention from all breeders

throughout the country as well as local commercial farmers and small breeders. Having

inspected the flock I can personally highly recommend every sheep in the sale including

many future names to remember.
