Recipe Eighteen

The Recipe

• Using Siebel Tools and Siebel Web Client, create a visual image set to use in place of a text-based PickList

The Ingredients

• Siebel Developer Web Client• Siebel Tools• Images created in your favorite editor and

saved in GIF format

Example GIF Images

• In this recipe we will use the Account Type Code to display Bronze, Silver and Gold images on the SIS Account Entry Applet

• This is the “Class” Control in the Applet

Preparation

• Before doing any work in this recipe– Back up your Siebel Tools Repository– Archive any Objects that are edited– Take a copy of your Sample database

• You do these exercises at your own risk

Part One

• Place your images in the correct Developer Web Client folder

Part Two

• Create a Bitmap Category and Bitmaps, referencing your three image file names

Part Three

• Create an Icon Map with three values to map to Account Type Code PickList

Part Four

• Create a Calculated Field to display the same value as the standard Account Type Code field

Part Five

• Add Control to SIS Account Entry Applet, sized appropriately for your images with HTML Icon Map referencing the Icon Map and displaying the new Calculated Field

Part Six

• Find the Correct Type Code for the List of Values and add Gold, Silver and Bronze values if not already present in the LOV Explorer View or Siebel Tools

Part Seven

• Compile the changed objects and experience the new Calculated Field with HTML Icon Map.

Conclusion

• We used Siebel Tools, Siebel Developer Web Client to edit and create Objects– Bitmap Category and Bitmaps– Icon Maps and Icons– Business Component Field
