I. Introduction

1.1 Background

On Job Training (O.T) is an academic activity that is carried out by students. It

is a requirement to complete this education at departmen of Chemical Engineering,

Faculty of engineering Unrversity of Mulawarman that was prepared based on the

vision and mission objective; contained in the University.

This activity will bt' held in a company to apply the theoretical knowledge

acquired and see the rele.'ance in the factory. So that students are expected to

understand the importance t f professionalism to compete in their field through self-

development by studying a rarticular field of science and its applications. It is known

that studying in a universi4 required more technical skills and theorytical knowledge.

Although these activities ar,: the only basic knowledge in the industrial world, it will

provide self confidence and new experiences. Which can be usefull later in the factory.

Chemical Engineerir'l is a knowledge that emerges and is evolved to fulfill the

engineers need to manage ihe prodr.rction or the chemical industry, which invoives

components of human, ma erial, and machine / production facilities. A student of

chemical engineering needs to understand the real conditions that exist in the

industrialized world. Studenrs do not only understand the theory and practice in collage,

but also need to understanci the true condition of the factory and apply theoretical

science that has been obtained during the lectures at the University.

Total E&P Indonesre is the right location to implement the Job Training.

Besides the Job Training is a prerequisite for completing the study at Chemical

Engineering, Faculty of engineering University of Mulawarman. Total E&P Indonesie

is a suitable company to apply knowledge for studying Chemical Engineering at the

Mulawarman University. In addition, oil and gas processing carried out in accordance

with the company to apply chemical engineering science. So, it is good enough to

implement these activities in this place.

The purposes and benefits ol these Job Training Skills are:

l. Purpose

The purposes of practical w,rk are:

1. Improveing the ability of the student.

2. Adding the student insight in relation to the disciplines acquired.

3. Understanding the process in PT. Total Indonesia.

2. Benefits

A. For Students

1. Obtain practical work exp,:rience and know more about the relation of science

received during lectures with actual conditions in the field.

2. Apply a acquired discipline that has gained both inside and outside the campus.

3. Expand the insight, knowl-'dge before plunging fields for real.

B. For Company

1. Assist in completing tasks and daily work at the company where is held.

2. Making a relation betweer the company and the Faculty of Engineering.

1. Expand and strenglhen rel.rtionships between Faculty of Engineering Mulawafinan

University especially with th: community and the company.

2. Achive a qualified skilled workforce which is , creative, dynamic, professional.

honest and responsible in doing the job.

1.2. Scope of PKL

In accordance with the student's goal, it is to implement the Tri Dharma consisting of

education, research and comrnunity service. The scope on job training is to study and

understand the processes in I otal E&P Indonesie from raw materials to products. On

Job Training activities that u ill be implemented in the company is studying the

management process from ra w materiais, maintenance of equipment, the main products,

and byproducts. In addition, .ve will also study the healty and secure and envirorunental

management implemented T,rtal E&P lndonesie.

II. ON JOB TRAINING SCHEDULE

Job Training activities that we do will take place every working day or according to

the schedule set by the P--. Total Indonesia. Job Training Skills will be done around

40 days in January until February 2A16, or in accordance with the direction of the

company.

We hope that the parties Total E&P Indonesie is willing to give us the

opportunity to implernent the Job Training. Thereby, it is creating good relations

and mutually benef,cial cooperation between companies and especially for

students of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering University of

Mulawarman. And we hope to get the guidance and supervisio from the

company. Thank you for being willing to guide and support us.
