For ages 8-18. All levels welcome. Anastasia Pena will join Maria Katzman as her TA. Anastasia is a recent RISD graduate and alum of Sacred Heart. Students will receive one on one aenon and will be challenged at their individual levels. What you’ll learn in this ‘On-Site’ art class: You will learn praccal approaches to drawing, sketching, and water-coloring. Each class offers the opportunity to experiment with a variety of art materials while focusing on the basics including: expressive mark making, line quality, composion, linear perspecve, proporon, value and light and shadow. You will learn about the techniques of water-color, wet into wet, layering and transparent washes while exploring color. Every morning we will meet in Central Park and draw and paint from either the landscape, cityscape, the figure and architectural themes, while honing our observaon skills and looking closely at nature. In the aſternoon we will visit a museum along Museum Mile. The museums’ galleries offer `` ample choices for burgeoning arsts to sharpen their talents and walk away from each lesson with new skills, ps and tricks. Leave each day with the confidence to begin creang anything you like. Learn to use a variety of materials; charcoal, pencil, water-color, oil pastels, water-soluble colored pencils, collage, micron pens. Lunch with Activity: 11:30-1:00We will have a picnic lunch in the park everyday and you will have time to share with friends. I will introduce a variety of craft projects such as: macrame friendship bracelets and optical-art cubes. We will also find letters of the alphabet in nature to photograph.

Museum Afternoons: 1:00-3:00 Every afternoon we will visit a different museum along Museum Mile and draw and paint from a variety of exhibitions. We will visit the Met, the Guggenheim, the Neue Galerie, the Met Breuer and the Museum of Modern Art.

In the event of rain, morning activities and lunch will be held at a museum.

Price: $650.00 weeks one, two and four; $500.00 week three.

Materials: • “Strathmore“ Drawing Pads 6” x 8”, “Strathmore” water-color pad 9” x 12”, 11”x 14” all-purpose drawing pad • Pencils (3) 2B Pencil, (3) 4B pencil • 2 blending stumps • Chamois cloth• “Micron” Pen: #2, #3, #5 • 5 arrow head erasers, “Staedtler” plastic eraser• Two-holed pencil sharpener • Prismacolor water-soluble colored pencils• “Aquash” water brush and small container for water• Water color brushes rounds by “Simply Simmons” sizes: #3, #6, #8 • Watercolors suggested brand: Jack Richeson set of either 16 or 24 colors• Vine Charcoal: soft, medium or assorted• 10 well watercolor plastic palette• “Cray-Pas” 12 colors• Plastic container for water• A large plastic envelope or canvas tote bag for supplies.
