A Model for Developing StrategyAny model that is used to develop and execute
strategy, especially in a ministry context should accomplish the following dimensions:
Making sense of the ministry environment Understanding the ministry’s mission and
vision Discovering ways to accomplish the mission
and vision. Actions steps to get from “here” to “there.” Evaluating the success of tactics used to
accomplish ministry goals.

•Scan: Begin to ask the Lord to open your eyes toward your ministry context.•Interrogate: Ask yourself what are the threats and opportunities that exist in your ministry context. How are you currently structured to make changes to move forward?•Goals: As you discern threats and opportunities begin to think strategically and set and execute goals to deal with these threats and opportunities.•Horizon: Keep the vision (horizon) before you as it relates to your ministry goals.•Track: Keep measuring the progress of the ministry goals in light the horizon

Intentional reflection on strategy.

understanding the ministry context? Who is involved in the strategy-making process? Is there intentional conversation about strategy? How do properly discern ministry performance? How do you fine-tune execution of strategies?
