Oncology& Primary Care
Educational ObjectivesAfter attending the conference, participants should be able to:
• Utilize new advances, methods and protocols in cancer screening prevention, diagnosis and treatment (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes);
• Be equipped with an awareness of the cancer continuum and the place of primary care as well as the resources available for assisting patients through phases of cancer survivorship (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes).
Educational MethodsLecture/Didactic – Post Test – Question/Answer Session
Target AudienceThis conference should be of value to Primary Care physicians and hospitalists, medical oncologists, hematologists and surgeons.
EvaluationA course evaluation survey will provide participants with the opportunity to
comment on the value of the program content to their practice decisions, performance improvement activities, or possible impact on patient health status. Participants will also have the opportunity to comment on any perceived commercial bias in the presentations as well as to identify future educational topics.
Accreditation/Credit DesignationPHYSICIANSThe University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 16.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
EthicsThis course has been designated by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for 1.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ in medical ethics and/or professional responsibility.
FocusThe goal of this conference is to provide primary care physicians, hospitalists, medical oncologists and hematologists evidence based information to enhance medical decision making when managing cancer patients. Physicians need updates on new cancer therapies, current treatment guidelines and resources to assist them in their cancer screening and practice. This activity will address the knowledge gap by bridging oncology with internal medicine, allowing physicians to provide supportive care to cancer patients.
Annual Multidisciplinary Cancer Care Conference 2020
ABIM Maintenance of Certification Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 16 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
Participant completion data will be shared with and transmitted to the ACCME on the participant’s behalf.
In order to receive MOC points, you must pass the post-test with a score of 70% or higher.
CME Certificates and Attendance Verification CertificatesCertificates awarding AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ or certificates documenting attendance will be emailed when an individual completes the online CME Verification process after the conference.
