About the Seminar The economic stimulus package officially named the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), signed by President Obama on February 17th, includes the Health Information Technology Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH). ARRA and HITECH contain extensive changes to the privacy and security rules under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”) and provide incentives for implementing health information technology. Discussion will focus on the changes and the implications for covered entities and business associates and will summarize the health information technology incentives.
