ONE DOOR CLOSES, ANOTHER DOOR OPENS

1. SO A DOOR CLOSES…..SO WHAT?a. A firing is not such a bad thing. You will land on your feet again if you have a complete

confidence in yourself and your abilities.b. Being out of work can work to your advantage.c. Take that closed door as a sign that fate has other plans for you.d. Nothing is impossible.e. Unexpected roads are waiting to be traveled. Do not panic when a door closes.

Something great will come of it if you don’t let it get you down.

2. QUICK TURNAROUNDS. a. I believe in me – that’s what you’ve got to say to yourself. Stick to your dreams. Do

everything you can to realize them. The rest will take care of itself.b. You can’t succeed every time.c. A door could open when you need it the most.d. Life is full of surprises. Opportunities come along whether you’re ready for them or

not. They either happen, or you make them happen.

3. DON’T GIVE UP.a. Where there is a will, there is a way. If there is a chance in a million that you can do

something, anything, to keep what you want from ending. Pry the door open or, if need be, wedge your foot in that door and keep it open.

b. Never take no for an answer.c. A reversal isn’t always the end of the road; it may just be a detour.d. Think of changing your role in the game if it keeps you in what you love.e. It doesn’t matter how many times you fail, all you need is one success.f. Persistence pays off.g. Don’t take a silent response to be a negative response.h. Hopelessness is a relative state. If you see a crack, lean on it. Give that door a good

hard push; throw your weight against it. Don’t give up.

4. NOW WHAT?a. Accept the prospect of change. That’s the only way you can move ahead.b. Be glad when you don’t always get your own way.c. Everything has a purpose; everything has its own time.d. Don’t dwell on what could have been done differently. That’s another way of resisting

change, and it can only keep you down.

e. Even if the door’s closing was your fault, don’t keep on blaming yourself for it. Take a positive action. Make the changes necessary so that what happened once doesn’t happen again.

5. TAKE TIME OUT – TO THINK.a. Don’t always blame the other fellow.b. Turn a situation over and over in your mind until that new idea emerges. Find ways to

get your thinking out of a rut and new ideas will come.c. Yes, you can do anything you want to do.d. Try, stop, and think. Then try again. Find a better way in.e. Humor cushions the blow. Learn to laugh at yourself and your circumstances.f. Keep an upbeat altitude as you struggle through.

6. KEEP MOVING!a. Take action! You can’t let rejection keep you down.b. Your biggest break can come from never quitting. Being at the right place at the right

time can only happen when you keep moving towards the next opportunity.c. An unhappy situation may be your back door to success.d. Use the feeling of defeat as your motivation to get out of a bad situation.e. Don’t let defeat flatten you.f. Use a bad situation to overcome other obstacles in your life. Treat tough times like

gym equipment. Use them to make you tougher.g. Give yourself a second chance.

7. TELL YOUR STORY.a. Share your situation with someone who values your talent. Don’t run away and hide.

It’s all right to ask for help when doors close.b. Show them you can do it!c. Bad news? Share it! You’d be surprised at how people can help if you just let them

know your situation.d. Get the word out.e. Keep up your friendships; keep up your contacts. Reach out to others. It’s right to ask

for help. People are more willing to help than you might think.

8. GET MAD!a. Am I ever going to show them they made a mistake! When a door closes, use

constructive anger as a positive force to open new doors.b. Let “healthy hurt” keep you going. Don’t look for scapegoats or place blame, but

express your anger as a way to rid your system of toxic feelings.

9. TRY ANYTHING!a. It’s never too late to move ahead. Go in with an open mind and find out for yourself

whether a new opportunity exists.b. Give yourself room for letting something better come of a bad situation.c. Believe in your abilities. Try something new and different and you will make it.d. Don’t let ego stand in your way. Keep an open mind when it comes to putting a value

on your services.e. Listen to others, but make up your own mind. In the end, let your own final judgment

be the determining factor as to whether an opportunity exists.f. What have you got to lose?g. Don’t let a negative altitude be an obstacle.h. There’s nothing wrong with a little ignorance.

10. SEIZE SERENDIPITY.a. Keep your eyes open for serendipity. Be prepared to recognize when you are at the

right place at the right time – and to act.b. Don’t let the right time pass you by.c. Put yourself in the vicinity of your dreams.

11. BUILD A DOOR.a. There are no guarantees in life. Sometimes you must be willing to take a chance.b. Use the closed door as your inspiration to accomplish more than you ever thought you

ever thought you could. Don’t wait for a death sentence to explode into action. Your future becomes what you make it.

c. Work, work, work but always with a winning attitude.d. When you step out and take a chance, chances are you are ready for a big success. Do

not let the fear of failure turn you back or wait too long to make a move.e. Don’t just dream about the possibilities for making a new start. Plan your exit.

12. YOUR TURN TO CLOSE A DOOR?a. Put your self first. Do not be afraid to close a door at someone else. Use your self –

respect as a source of courage to speak and close a door.b. Step in, speak up, and be ready to close the door. Find out what’s going on. Discuss it.

Risk dire consequences. The truth will provide peace of mind.

13. MIRACLES OUT OF MISHAPS.a. The darkest moments can turn out to the good.

b. The good seldom comes by mistake. Treat recovery time as a rare chance for introspection and self – discovery.

c. Fate is what you make of it.d. Serious accidents increase one’s appreciation for the suffering of others.e. Let others hear from you in their time of suffering. Put up a fight to make miracles

happen. In hopelessness situations, hope exists if we choose to find it.

memorial that will help others.c. Let the tragedy of another open the door to recovery.d. Caring can start a domino effect.e. Take control of today, let tomorrow take care of itself.f. Do not deny the expression of anger or grief – or any emotion, for that matter.g. Build a network of support. Expand on it.h. Consider every inch that allows light into a dark situation a triumph.

THANK YOU
