Creating a diverse array of paintings was not really my goal. I very much wanted to create a certain theme of revolt between artistic genres, movements and overall theme. While of course, some paintings may not appear to be all that different, their back-stories and overall ideology will separate them. My main focus of the exhibit was to create one of a peaceful mindset, creating a very minimalist feel was also a very important factor. The exhibit needed to be a zone of zero distraction; the only focus I intended to create was the art itself. While the floor, walls and overall color of the exhibit is very dull and grey, I wanted the only color to be within the paintings. In the center of the exhibit is a black room, with two entrances. Nothing is hanging on the walls and there is no light. I wanted to create a separation between the exhibit but still maintaining my overall fondness of my “No distraction” theory. The exhibit should echo with quietness, allowing only casual conversation to be aloud. Music will not be played due to its often judgmental and influential nature. All opinions of the art should be influenced by own thought and peace of mind. Given that exhibit is on the minimalist side, supplies and other items are not really needed. Instead I plan on creating a fund to donate 4000 to local art charities and using the other 1000$ solely for funding and helping out workers for the exhibit. Overall I really wanted the exhibit to be just about the art, no gimmicks, music or fancy installations. When entering, I really want people to be overcome with thoughtfulness as they read and look at the pieces and appreciate them for what they are.
