ONE STUDENT ONE TREE- A REPORT (MAY 9-10, 2015 AND MAY 16-17, 2015) One Student One Tree is Tezpur University’s special plantation drive program which was initiated by TU’s esteemed Vice Chancellor Prof. Mihir Kanti Choudhury. In charge of the program is Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Amar Jyoti Choudhury. Administrative support was provided by Dr. Biren Das, Registrar TU and Mr. Upakul Sarmah, Assistant Registrar TU. Dr. Hitesh Sharma, Assistant Professor Dept. of Education TU was the program coordinator for One Student One Treeprogram. Dr. J. K. Sarma, Professor Dept. of Physics, Dr. Apurba Saha, Assistant Professor Dept. of Social Work, Mr. Girindra Hazarika, Asst. Horticulturist TU, Dr. Amiya kumar Das, Coordinator NSS, Mr. Subal Sagar, student coordinator, NSS, NSS area coordinators and NSS Volunteers coordinated various activities of tree plantation in TU Campus. The objective of One Student: One Tree is that each student should plant one tree and also nurture that tree during his or her stay in university campus. All Final Semester students of Tezpur University who are leaving the University Campus after spring semester, 2015 have been directed to plant one tree in Tezpur University Campus on May 9-10, 2015 and May 16-17, 2015. Final Semester students have already planted 883 trees in TU Campus with the help of junior students and NSS volunteers. List of final semester students along with the list of junior students who will take care of the plants, allocated plantation area, list of NSS area coordinators were uploaded on TU website. Notice of One Student One Tree with Poster was circulated in all the departments. First, the Plantation points were marked by horticulture dept. and then students prepared plant pit and their name plate which they had to fix near the plant. Students fill up plant pit with cow dung manure and soil. Sapling, Equipment, and Name Plate with writing material were provided by the University. TU students have planted trees of various varieties like Mango, Litchi, Guava, Olive, Letekul, Bonsum, Halak, Titachapa, Sal, Sisoo, Ajar, Black Jamun, Jack fruit and Neem. These different varieties of trees have been planted in different areas of TU campus like Sisso plot near University Entrance, Health Centre Quarter Premises, Southern side of UBI, Western side of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Southern Side of Patkai Hostel, Vacant Plot towards Northern side of Patkai Hostel, Southern side of SCV Raman Mens’ Hostel, Vacant Pl ot between Kanchanjunga Mens’ Hostel & Dhansiri Womens’ Hostel , Near university wall

ONE STUDENT ONE TREE- A REPORT

(MAY 9-10, 2015 AND MAY 16-17, 2015)

Boral, Controller of Exam, Dr. S. K. Dutta, Dr. Sravani Biswal, ADSW, Mr. Pankaj Borah Asst. Director Sports, Mr. Sadhan Mahapatra, Dr. Bala Lakhendra. All Deans, HOD’s, Hostel Wardens, Associate Wardens, TU Faculty members and TU Staff have motivated the TU students for tree plantation inside the University Campus.
