Diversity- differencesamongpeople,whethertheyworkfor,areservedbyorotherwisehaveastakeintheorganizationitself. Thesedifferencesamongstakeholdersincludebutarenotlimitedtointernalandexternaldimensionsofdiversity.

Inclusion- creatingandmaintaining anenvironmentinwhichpeoplearenotexcludedormarginalizedbecauseoftheirdifferences.

Culture- thecumulativedepositofknowledge,experience,beliefs,values,attitudesandreligionbyadiversegroupofpeoplegenerallyw/outthinkingaboutthem.

It’s In Our DNA• TheUSOCwasreorganizedbytheTedStevensOlympicandAmateurSportsAct,originallyenactedin1978. PursuanttoSection220511oftheact,theUSOCisrequiredtosubmitareporttoCongresseveryquadrennialdetailingitsoperationsfortheprecedingfouryears.

• Thisreportmustincludeinformationregardingtheparticipationofwomen,peoplewithdisabilitiesandracial/ethnicminoritiesinNGBathletic,governanceandmanagementactivities. Thereportmustincludedescriptionsofprogramsandinitiativesthatencouragetheparticipationofwomen,peoplewithdisabilitiesandracial/ethnicminoritieswithineachNGBandHPMO.

1st and 2nd DimensionsPersonality - Thisincludesanindividual'slikesanddislikes,values,andbeliefs. Personalityisshapedearlyinlifeandisbothinfluencedby,andinfluences,theotherthreelayersthroughoutone’slifetimeandcareerchoices.

InternalDimensions - Theseincludeaspectsofdiversityoverwhichwehavenocontrol(though“physicalability”canchangeovertimeduetochoiceswemaketobeactiveornot,orincasesofillnessoraccidents). Thisdimensionisthelayerinwhichmanydivisionsbetweenandamongpeopleexistandwhichformsthecoreofmanydiversityefforts. Thesedimensionsincludethefirstthingsweseeinotherpeople,suchasraceorgenderandonwhichwemakemanyassumptionsandbasejudgments.

3rd and 4th Dimensions

ExternalDimensions - Theseincludeaspectsofourliveswhichwehavesomecontrolover,whichmightchangeovertime,andwhichusuallyformthebasisfordecisionsoncareersandworkstyles. Thislayeroftendetermines,inpart,withwhomwedevelopfriendshipsandwhatwedoforwork. Thislayeralsotellsusmuchaboutwhomweliketobewith.

OrganizationalDimensions - Thislayerconcernstheaspectsofculturefoundinaworksetting. Whilemuchattentionofdiversityeffortsisfocusedontheinternaldimensionsissuesofpreferentialtreatmentandopportunitiesfordevelopmentorpromotionareimpactedbytheaspectsofthislayer.
