OneApp Participating Schools 2018-2019 Main Round Demand 1 What school demand means for families: School demand represents how many families are interested in attending a school, compared to the number of available seats at that school. If a school is “high demand,” the number of applicants exceeds the number of open seats, meaning not every applicant will get in. If you’re considering high demand schools, also consider schools that can accommodate most applicants. Listing more options doesn’t impact your likelihood of getting into your higher-ranked schools. If you only list schools that receive more applicants than there are seats, your child may not receive an assignment. OneApp demand was previously presented with the EnrollNOLA Annual Report, available on EnrollNOLA.org. You can see prior years’ demand information by reviewing the Annual Reports on EnrollNOLA.org. Demand in your child’s grade can predict your likelihood of assignment. School demand glossary: Open Seats for New Applicants: Number of seats open for new students. Total Demand: Total number of applicants who listed the school on their Main Round OneApp, regardless of how the school was ranked. Match Rate: Percentage of applicants who were assigned to a school. Match rate only includes students whom OneApp attempted to assign. OneApp does not attempt to assign students who are ineligible, or are matched to a higher-ranked choice on their OneApp. This is why a school can have more total demand than open seats, but still have a 100% match rate. Example: Johnny listed Alligator School as his #1 choice, and Crawfish School as his #2. OneApp is able to match Johnny to Alligator School. While Johnny is included in the total demand for both Alligator and Crawfish School, he is only included in the match rate for Alligator School. OneApp did not attempt to match Johnny to Crawfish School, since Johnny was placed at his #1 choice, so he is not included in Crawfish School’s match rate.

1

What school demand means for families:

School demand represents how many families are interested in attending a school, compared to the number of available seats at that school. If a school is “high demand,”

the number of applicants exceeds the number of open seats, meaning not every applicant will get in. If you’re considering high demand schools, also consider schools that

can accommodate most applicants. Listing more options doesn’t impact your likelihood of getting into your higher-ranked schools. If you only list schools that receive

more applicants than there are seats, your child may not receive an assignment.

OneApp demand was previously presented with the EnrollNOLA Annual Report, available on EnrollNOLA.org. You can see prior years’ demand information by

reviewing the Annual Reports on EnrollNOLA.org. Demand in your child’s grade can predict your likelihood of assignment.

School demand glossary:

Open Seats for New Applicants: Number of seats open for new students.

Total Demand: Total number of applicants who listed the school on their Main Round OneApp, regardless of how the school was ranked.

Match Rate: Percentage of applicants who were assigned to a school. Match rate only includes students whom OneApp attempted to assign. OneApp does not attempt to

assign students who are ineligible, or are matched to a higher-ranked choice on their OneApp. This is why a school can have more total demand than open seats, but

still have a 100% match rate. Example: Johnny listed Alligator School as his #1 choice, and Crawfish School as his #2. OneApp is able to match Johnny to Alligator School.

While Johnny is included in the total demand for both Alligator and Crawfish School, he is only included in the match rate for Alligator School. OneApp did not attempt

to match Johnny to Crawfish School, since Johnny was placed at his #1 choice, so he is not included in Crawfish School’s match rate.

2

Why View Demand by Grade? The number of seats open to new applicants is dependent on the number of continuing students in that grade. For that reason, entry-

level grades have more available seats than mid-level grades, and therefore have a higher match rate. For example: 9th grade has a higher match rate than 10th grade,

because in 9th grade there are no continuing students the school must account for and accommodate.

Demand levels:

Our highest demand schools have many more applicants than they have open seats. The lower the match rate, the higher the demand. If a school has a Match Rate less

than 25%, that means they have 4 or more applicants for every 1 seat, or at least 4 times as many applicants as open seats. Even a 50% match rate means that the school

received twice as many applications as there were open seats.

Use the tables below to consider the demand of your preferred schools. There is always a chance that your child may not receive an assignment, depending on the number

of applicants for the schools of your choice. However, selecting some schools with high Match Rates (80% or higher) among your choices will give your child the best

chance of being assigned to a school of your choice.
