Standard industry practice to protect pool pump motors from water ingress isnormally only on two levels, a mechanical seal and flinger shaft sleeve. With over30 years experience selling into the pool industry, we know the more protectionyou give the motor, the better off you are and that s why we build five levels ofmotor protection into the Pantera range of pool pumps.

Incorporating an elevated mount into the pump design keeps moisture wellaway from the motor.

Extends the life of the pump shaft by utilising corrosion resistant stainless steel.

The hair and lint pot stops large particles from blocking the pump waterways.Having a larger than average lint pot means less time cleaning. Bymanufacturing the lint pot with a clear lid, it only takes a few seconds to check whether or not it is full.

Having a low friction o-ring on the lint pot means you only need to tighten the lidby hand. No tools are necessary and because you only tighten by hand,removing the lid is also a simple task.

Onga s unique 5 degree self-aligning barrel unions make pipe work connection a breeze.

Pentair Water recommend the pump be mounted on a solid level, vibration free surface.

To maintain optimum performance from your pump, the suction pipe should be:

• Kept to the shortest length possible – place thepump as close to the water source as possible

• PVC or similar non-collapsible hose or pipe• All fittings must be airtight• Pipe should be equal to or larger than the diameter

of the suction port• Where possible install the pump below water level

To maintain optimum performance from your pump, the discharge pipe should be:

• Kept to the shortest possible length• Of adequate diameter to reduce friction losses –

avoid small pipes to maximise flow and pressureperformance

Pentair Water recommend the use of shut off valves insuction & discharge pipe to assist when maintenance isrequired. Closed loop systems or applications where thepump is installed vertically higher than the water sourcewill require an additional check valve or footvalve.

Electrical230 volt single phase motors are supplied as standardwith built-in thermal overload protection and aredesigned to plug directly into a 10 amp domestic powersupply to local electrical authority specifications(2.2kW,2.4kW - 15Amp Plug).

Caution: Pumps fitted with 415 volt three phase electricmotors must be wired through a contractorincorporating quick trip type thermal overloads.Direction of rotation must be checked by switchingpower on momentarily and observing motor rotation. If the direction is not correct as per motor label have aqualified electrician make the change.

Recommended routine maintenance• Check seal, if leaking replace with genuine Pentair Water service parts.• Regularly check o-rings and replace if worn or leaking• Keep strainer basket free of debris by checking it regularly.

Ensure that your self-priming pump is filled with water before operating. NEVER run dry! Running pump dry may damage seals, causing leakage and flooding not covered by Pentair Water warranty.

Ensure that pump is connected to a live outlet. Ensure that timeclock orcontroller is delivering power to the pump.

Check fuses and circuit breakers.

Replace the capacitor (electrical license required).

Check motor winding resistance against specification.

Disconnect the pump from the power outlet, and check the pump housing and discharge for foreign matter.

Ensure that pump body and suction line are filled with water before starting.

Check the suction line for leaks, especially at joints.

Check the skimmer box, and empty the leaf basket.

Check all valves on the filter, pump, and outlets.

Top up the pool, so that there is at least 100mm of water above the skimmer box entry.

Turn pump off until ambient cools.

Ensure that water temperature limits are observed.

Check voltage level being delivered, and correct where necessary.

Switch off the pump, and check both the skimmer box leaf basket and the pump suction leaf basket.

Check filter pressure gauge, and backwash or clean filter cartridge.

Check that a vacuum hose is not above the water surface.Check the suction line for leaks, especially at joints.

If the pump cannot be moved closer to the pool, a different pump may be required.

Check voltage at motor terminals, while the pump is running.

Replace worn components, and remove cause of abnormal wear.

Tighten casing bolts.

Replace seal, and remove cause of abnormal wear.
