Future of Hook

“As Hook evolves in the 21st century, in what ways can it continue to sustain you, your family, friends or business?” 45% - “better internet” and “better

transport links” both received 35% - Employment locally 27% -More affordable housing 19% - Energy generation locally 5% - Business space Most popular comment - regenerate

the parade of shops in village centre a large proportion requested that

infrastructure be improved before houses are built - especially roads

Car parking was also a common issue, many respondents requested management be put in place for commuters vehicles who park in residential areas

Respondent also keen to keep the “village feel” of Hook.

Housing 32% said no more housing

needed in Hook 29% believed each of small

family homes, homes for young people and affordable housing all were needed in Hook

21% believed more bungalows and retirement homes were needed

Community

Which characteristics residents thought were “essential to making the parish of Hook “a good place to live” show that :• trains and public footpaths are

the most important facilities -85% of respondents using them

• access to Health Services also important - 45% choosing it as essential.

• Access to nature, transport services, education provision, community safety and parks and open spaces all received over 30% of the marks

• What concerned respondents about the parish - 33% cited antisocial behaviour followed by vandalism at 29%

• 84% of respondents said they regularly used the public footpaths

• 66% use Hook Focus as a source of local information

Hook Business Survey Results

Traffic & Travel 15% of responding businesses

said their businesses suffer from transport issues as a result of being located in Hook

43% said the public transport services met the staff needs to get to and from work

23% said staff had issues with traffic/roads in Hook

Future Trading 61% said their current

premises will suit their business needs for the next 5 years

49% of those expecting to expand in the next 5 years said they would need under 93 square meters (1,000 sq ft)

45% believe there is suitable capacity / quality of business space to support any expansion of their business within Hook

35% said they would have a need for additional parking if all commercial buildings in Hook were fully occupied. Of these 45% (15% of all respondents) are based in the centre of Hook

difficulty recruiting appropriately skilled staff over the last 12 months.

Just over 40% said they would like to see enhanced shopping facilities and more choices of food establishments for their employees in Hook

Travel 37% of respondents live within a

10 mile radius of their work place

Just under 50% (47.24%) have a journey which takes 30 mins or less to get to work

75% of respondents travel by car to their work place

8% use public transport

Housing 12.56% of respondents said they

“would consider moving to Hook” Of these respondents, 14% expected to

move within the next year; 30% within 1-2 years; 36% in the next 3-5 years and 14% within the next 6-10 years

For those who would consider moving to Hook the most popular type of housing by far was buying a 3 bed house or buying a 4 bed house
