CIDC – Activities: Executive Development Program on “Testing of Construction Materials” for

DRDO Engineers:

From 7th September to 16th September 2015, CIDC and DRDO jointly conducted a 10 day workshop on Testing of Construction Materials. Various leading experts from their fields were invited to induct participants to latest testing techniques and methods. Esteemed speakers included:

CIDC – Activities:

Inauguration of TMU-CIDC B.Voc. Program and Celebration of Vishwakarma

puja at Vishwakarma Tritiya Training Centre at Dhaulana:

TMU-CIDC B.Voc. Program has been launched in five CIDC centers of Uttar Pradesh i.e Dhaulana, Ramsapur, Lucknow, Kanhmou & Gorakhpur.

TMU was represented by Col. Dr. G P Srivastava, Vice Principal, Polytechnic & Mr. C K Chauhan at the Dhaulana training centre for the inauguration of the program.

The Aim of the programme is to create more job ready employees/entrepreneurs by imparting them skills and education leading to creation of a rich resource pool of skilled human resources

The Empanelment Arbitration Workshop on "Domestic & International Arbitration - Law, Procedure & Awards" for Empanelment of Arbitrators Nas conducted by CDB, Bhutan in collaboration with CIAC, India from 28th to 30th September 2015t Salem was held on 26th September 2015 and Mr. Duraimurugan, Our Admin Officer and Mr. K. Mohan, Trainer (Mechanica) were deputed on the job. The response of over whelming and was well received by the locals of the District and nearly 295 applications have been received by us for training in various trades. Again the interest for Electrician Trade is amazing and more than 50% of the applicants wish to be trained in this trade.

CIDC – Activities:

The said workshop was inaugurated by the Secretary, Mo WHS & Welcome address was made by Er.

Rinzin Dorji, Director General, CDB. The inaugural Session was held on 28th September from 0930-

1020 hrs. The chief Guest to the Inaugural session was, Secretary to Mo WHS, Govt. of Bhutan.

However, the theme note address for the said workshop was made by Dr. P.R. Swarup, D.G. CIDC &

Secretary General, CIAC. While inaugurating the said workshop, appreciated the CIAC cooperation for

Conduction of the workshop for Empanelment of Arbitrators. He Specifically pointed out this is the first

time that the Bhutan Govt. is conducting such workshop, which would be of high value for Dispute

Resolution in Construction Industry of Bhutan. All Head of Departments & the Division Chief of Govt.

of Bhutan were invited as Guest of Honour to this Inaugural Session. In addition to the 28 participants,

other senior officers of various departments also attended this Inaugural Session.

Total three Technical Sessions were held for the said workshop in addition to the Inaugural Session. One

technical Session was held on each day i.e. from 28th to 30th September, 2015. In all 10 Lec tures were

delivered including the practical problems to the Trainee officers for practice & thorough understanding

of the Arbitration Law.

28 Participants to the said Workshop mane of high Status, which included of Judges, Chief engineers,

Chief Urban Planners, Chief Regulatory Officer, Lawyers, Principal engineers, Directors etc. who

attended this workshop.

On 30th September 2015, the Chief Guest for the concluding session was Hon’ble Minister, MoWHS,

Govt. Of Bhutan. It was a great privilege for the workshop to honor the Chief Guest who was the first

Lady Minister & that too a Civil engineer. Chief Guest Commended the Co-operation & valuable training

imparted to the trainee officers of various categories on Arbitration on Dispute Resolution in

Construction Industry of Bhutan. She emphasized that there was a great need for Empanelment of

Arbitrators in Bhutan particularity when the Country is going ahead in Development of Construction

Industry.

TAMIL NADU SKILL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (TNSDC) PROJECT:

Consecutively for the second time, Chennai Centre has bagged an order for training 3000 youth from Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) for the year 2015-2016, in the trades of Mason, Barbender, Plumber, Tiler, Electrician & Painter. Out of this number, we have successfully completed training for 144 youth in the Districts of Thiruvannamalai and Dharmapuri. Nearly 50% of the trainees have been successfully placed in reputed companies in their respective trades and we are trying to place rest of the trainees also.

The TNSDC , in its endeavour to train the unemployed youth of Tamil Nadu, had organized Job Fair in the Districts of Salem and Dharmapuri and invited us to set up stalls in both the districts. Job Fair at Dharmapuri was held on 12th September 2015 and was efficiently handled by our trainers Mr. Alagappan, Mr. Boothal and our Dharmapuri Co-ordinator Mr. Velayutham. We were able to mobilize 130 youths in this job fair, to be trained at various trades of Construction sector and the interest was mainly in Electrician Trade.

Airports Authority of India Project:

Under the auspices of Airports Authority of India, we are required to train 100 people in the coming months. The preliminary arrangements were completed and the programme kick started on 22nd September, 2015 in Erode, beginning with Mason Trade. Under this AAI residential Programme, we are starting a batch on 05th October 2015, at Dharmapuri District, electrician trade. Mahesh Kumar Special Secretary NCR & CIDC Team.

Visit of Shri Manickam Asaithambi, Managing Director, M/s L&W Construction Pvt.Ltd., Bangalore to CIDC Begumpet training centre:

Shri Manickam Asaithambi visited our Begumpet training centre on 06th October 2015.He went around the facilities and addressed the trainees and explained to them the facilities provided by L&W to its employees like

CIDC – Activities:

Sri Manickam Asaithambi said that he would send his Works Manager form Gachibowli Hyderabad project; to whom we can hand over the material required and he would look into items which he may arrange.

He also spoke about good construction practices and spelt out an acronym COP-ID which means.

Trainees interacted with Mr. Asaithambi and the meeting concluded by once again reiterating that all possible help will be given to CIDC ,as it is a two way approach as L&W would need well trained supervisor and workers. All the staff members of Begumpet training centre were present. Shri GP Raju has translated the lecture in telugu language.

The call for nomination for 8th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards 2016 was opened on 15th August 2015 and enthusiastic response is witnessed from participants in various categories.

News Report – Airports Authority of India:

Teacher’s Day and Ganesh Chaturthi were celebrated with much festivity at all CIDC training centres by trainees enrolled in “Project for Employment Oriented Training and Skill Development Programme for SC/ST/OBC/Women & EWS of Society for 1000 Persons under Airports Authority of India CSR Initiative”.

As of now 475 students have been attending regular “in-class” and “hands-on-practical” training at the centres.

Inauguration of Bachelor of Vocation Course:

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched a scheme on skills development based higher education as part of college/university education, leading to Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Degree with multiple exits such as Diploma/Advanced Diploma under the NSQF. B.Voc. programme is focused on universities and colleges providing undergraduate studies which would also incorporate specific job roles and their NOSs along with broad based general education. This would enable the graduates completing B.Voc. to make a meaningful participation in accelerating India’s economy by gaining appropriate employment, becoming entrepreneurs and creating appropriate knowledge.

CIDC has joined hand with Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Uttar Pradesh to offer Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Degree Programs in Construction related fields. These programs are offered in seven streams of Engineering, viz. Building Construction, Roads & Highway Construction, Water Proofing & Construction Chemical Application, Operation & Maintenance of Construction Equipments, Trenchless Technology Application, Construction Project & Building Maintenance Engineering.

All the programs are aimed at preparing a cadre of competent skilled manpower to meet the growing demands of infrastructure construction sector.

In respect of that, CIDC, Gorakhpur has started B.Voc., a degree level program, on 15th Sep, 2015. Shri P.K. Mishra, Additional Director, CIDC inaugurated the program in Gorakhpur center and elaborated the program and the opportunities available to develop students’ skill so that they may get placement and may be valuable for themselves and for the society.

CIDC – Activities: Celebration of Teacher’s Day in Gorakhpur centre:

In India, 5th September is celebrated as Teacher's Day since 1962. The day commemorates the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan, a philosopher and a teacher par excellence. Dr. Radhakhrishnan believed that "teachers should be the best minds in the country". On this day, we gratefully remember the great educationist, apart from honoring all the teachers that

have made our life much more knowledgeable and fulfilled, as serving as our beacons of light.

In respect of that, Teachers Day was celebrated on 5th Sep, 2015, at CIDC Gorakhpur Centre. Dr. (Prof) Rajesh Mishra, President, Gorakhpur University Associated College Teachers Association was the chief guest and Smt Alpana Pandey, Head Master, Prathmik Vidyalay, Hata, Gorakhpur, Dr Kusumakar Pandey, Principal (Rtd), Govt. Inter College, Gorakhpur were the guest of honor. These three honored guests represented higher education, intermediate education and primary education on the occasion. They extended their blessings to all trainees for their success in future. OIL and AAI trainees organized excellent cultural program.

Launching of Special T & C Program:

All the programs are aimed at preparing a cadre of competent skilled manpower to meet the growing demands of infrastructure construction sector.

Special T & C program was started on teachers’ day to test skill of the construction workers and certify them in Gorakhpur centre.

Celebration of Lord Vishwakarma Day at Gorakhpur:

Vishwakarma is known as the divine engineer and main architect of the universe. He is worshipped by the engineering community and professionals. Workforce in the offices and workshops worship their instruments and tools which are used in their profession.

CIDC, Gorakhpur center organized a very special puja on 17th Sep, 2015 in the campus of training centre. Pt Dina Nath Pandey performed the all rituals of puja. The training staff and trainees participated in the puja in very auspicious environment.

1. Under CIDC-PFC (Phase-III) program 1462 numbers of candidates have been trained, from them 1124 number of candidates have been placed as on 18th September, 2015.

2. Under CIDC-RECL program 925 number of candidates have been trained, from them 617 numbers have been placed as on 28th September, 2015.

3. Under CIDC–Engineers India Limited (EIL) program 250 Nos of candidates have been successfully trained in different trades at our Sidhauli, Reusa , Ramshapur & Ghaziabad training centres. From them 201 nos. of candidates have been placed.

4. Under CIDC- Airport Authority of India (AAI) program 412 nos. of candidates are under training at our Faridabad-VKP, Gorakhpur, Ramshahpur, Sidhauli, Phulnakhra, Ranchi, Daltonganj, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Erode & Mumbai centres.
