Esthetics & Implant Prosthetics:Avoiding Failures and ComplicationsBaldwin W. Marchack, DDS, MBA Course overview:Patients today are increasingly aware of dental implants, and their expectations are for esthetically and functionally pleasing implant restorations that mimic natural teeth. This presentation will focus on prin-ciples and guidelines for restoring anterior implants to achieve optimum esthetics utilizing functional and practical implant solutions. The presentation will be of interest to both the experienced and the novice practitioner as it will result in effortless decision making and will enable the restorative dentist to not only collaborate better with the implant surgeon but to direct the laboratory technician in the design of each implant situation with confidence.

Learning objectives:1. Diagnosis and treatment planning for implants2. Criteria for screw retained vs cement retained restorations 3. Know what are the ideal abutment contours for restorations to maintain and support soft tissue 4. Consistently create ideal, esthetic and functional implant restorations with healthy gingival tissue

Gain time in your hygiene appointment without compromising but even improving your quality of care. • Utilization of air polishing and piezoelectric scaling equipment• Application of supra and subgingival air polishing techniques• Characteristics and application for various air polishing powders• Implementation of air polishing therapy into your treatment protocol Participants will have a sense of assurance and confidence in their approach to subgingival biofilm control being effective, efficient and safe.Learning Objectives: • Understand biofilm and it’s management.• Understanding the new disease model. • Polymicrobial Symbiotic and Dysbiosis- Beyond the red complex.

FARSHID ARIZ, DMDDr. Ariz is a 1989 graduate of the Boston University School of Dentistry where he received his DMD degree. In 1991, he received his Certification in Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Periodontics. He is an Assistant Professor to Advanced Periodontics over for 25 years at Ostrow School of Dentistry of University of Southern California. Dr. Ariz is a Diplomate, American Board of Craniofacial Pain (ABCP) and he has extensive training in orthopedic Craniofacial dysfunction. He has treated patients with Craniofacial pain,TMJ soreness and jaw discomfort, primary headaches, face, neck and shoulder pain. He

is also Diplomate, American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine (ABCDSM) were he is treated patients for Obstructed Sleep Apnea and snoring, daytime drowsiness and patients who are CPAP intolerance. Beside lecturing and presenting in academia and educational meetings, Dr. Ariz is involved in TMJ & Sleep Therapy Research for non-surgical therapy to improved quality of life. He is the program leader in fundamentals courses in American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. His expertise includes implantology, esthetic implant surgery, esthetic periodontal therapy, and full mouth reconstruction. Dr. Ariz is a member of the American Academy of periodontology, Western Soc. of Periodontology, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Osseointegration and a member of the Medical Review Institute of America, Inc and Los Angeles County Medical Association.

BALDWIN W. MARCHACK, DDS, MBABaldwin  Marchack  is  a  1971  graduate  of  the  Ostrow  School  of  Dentistry  of  USC.    In  1989  he  received his MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. Dr Marchack is a Fellow of the Amer can College of Dentists, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, and a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is a member of the Academy of Prosthodontics, the International College of Prosthodontists and the Academy of Osseointegration, and he is past- ‐president of the American Prosthodontic Society, past- ‐president of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics, past- ‐president

of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and past- ‐president of the Osseointegration Study Club of Southern California. Dr Marchack is an Honorary Member of the American College of Prosthodontists. He serves on the Board of Councilors of the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, and is President of the Executive Council for the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry (IFED). Dr Marchack is the Course Director for the USC Comprehensive Surgical and Restorative Implant Dentistry Training Program in Shenzhen, China and course director for the USC Comprehensive Surgical and Restorative Implant Dentistry Training Program in Hong Kong. He is currently the Chair of the Editorial Council for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and he maintains a private practice in Pasadena, California.

JODI DEMING, RDHJodi started practice as a dental hygienist in 1988. In the early 1990’s frus-trated with the understanding of the etiology of periodontal disease became involved with biofilm research. At that time the term was rarely used in den-tistry except in the context of dental unit waterlines. As a clinical research associ-ate Jodi was involved with biofilm growth and therapeutic product development evaluating the effect on dental biofilms. Understanding biofilms, she developed a pas-sion about non-surgical therapy, root morphology, and the results of thorough peri-

odontal debridement. Jodi has worked 28 years mastering non-surgical periodontal therapy techniques and proce-dures. She currently works in both periodontic and prosthodontic practices. Jodi is a national and international educator, clinician, and lecturer. She has pre-sented over a 150 lectures and work-shops on advanced integration of ultrasonic and hand instrumentation Jodi has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry, Department of Dental Hygiene and at Spear Education. She is a Friends of Hu-Friedy Thought Leader valued for her involvement with biofilm research, instrument development and training. She is nationally recognized as an expert in endoscope and ultrasonic instrumentation.
