Austin Wallace (#9) is the son of Craig and Tracy Wallace. He

was 5 years old when he started playing hockey for CAHA and played in that league until he joined the Pioneers. He has enjoyed playing on the same team as Chris

Pennington for the last 8 years. Austin plans on attending Miami University to study Marketing and Business. Outside

of hockey, he is involved in Young Life and is a member of the OOHS golf team where he shot a 68 to set the current school golf record. Austin will always remember being a part of the team and making it to the Final 4. Austin would like to thank his dad for always being proud of him no matter how well he played and even being proud of him if he did not play at all.

Jake Potts (#13) is the son of Gary and Sue Potts and his nickname is “el tigre”. Jake has been playing hockey for 12 years, beginning in CAHA, and has also played with the Columbus Capitals and Team Ohio. He is exploring several colleges and is interested in studying Business. When he’s not playing hockey, Jake enjoys playing soccer and FIFA. His favorite hockey memory was winning the district championship in 2012 and getting to use the NHL locker rooms at Nationwide Arena. Jake would like to thank his mom and dad for always supporting him in everything he does and for putting up with his shenanigans.

Coach Horvath has thirty years of coaching experience and is in his second year of coaching the Pioneers. He was a former coach for the Hill AFB hockey team and has coached various AA and AAA travel hockey teams. Coach Horvath is also currently the Director of Midwest goal development for the Rick Heinz goalie/hockey school. He is also a black belt in Chinese Martial Arts.

Coach Kennedy is in his first year coaching the Pioneers. He has over 10 years of coaching experience at various levels of hockey, including the Hilliard High School Club team and the Columbus North Stars select team. Coach Kennedy graduated from The Ohio State University.

Coach Factor was the inaugural JV coach for the Pioneers and is in his third year with the OOHS program. He grew up playing hockey in central Ohio and also played on the club hockey team at the University of Dayton. Coach Factor has over 10 years of coaching experience at various levels and has led Orange to the JV Blue Jackets Cup championship in both of his previous years.

Coach Chugh is in his first year coaching the OOHS Pioneers. He is a level 4 USA hockey coach and also a level 3 USA hockey official. Coach Chugh has previously coached with the Columbus Capitals travel team. He has also played an active role in developing youth hockey in Columbus since 2000.

Christopher Pennington (#21) is the son of Tim and Monica Pennington and started playing hockey when he was 4

years old. He played for CAHA for many years until he joined the OOHS Pioneers. Chris plans on attending the Ohio State University. He’s involved with Young Life and the Journalism program at OOHS. He’s also known for having the “sickest style on the team”. His greatest hockey memory is winning the District Championship in the 4th OT against Dublin Jerome. Chris would like to thank both of his parents for putting the time into letting

him play hockey He’s also like to say a special thanks to his dad who has made unbelievable sacrifices as a coach,

that most people aren’t aware of, to move the OOHS hockey program forward.

Tyler Brumfield (#17) is the son of Kathy Thomas and Michael Brumfield. He was 3 years old when he started playing hockey for the EYHA Mite Panthers. He’s also played for the Capitals, the CCYHA Blue Jackets, and the Storm where his team made it to Nationals and placed 6th. Tyler also enjoys officiating hockey. After graduation, he plans on attending Columbus State and also advancing his hockey officiating in the hope of going to the NHL. His favorite OOHS hockey moment was winning the district finals in 4 overtimes and playing in the state final four at Nationwide Arena. Tyler would like to thank his mom and dad for making sure he always got to all of his practices and games and for all of the time they dedicated to him. He is truly thankful.

Coach Pennington has been the Varsity Head Coach from its inception in 2008. Coach Pennington led the Pioneers to a District Title and State Final Four appearance in the 2011-12 season. He previously coached the Olentangy Club varsity team that won the Blue Jacket Cup in 2007. Coach Pennington coached youth hockey since 1999 and, along with Coach Kennedy, started the formation of a select team, the Columbus North Stars. He also coached the Columbus Capitals AA travel team. Coach Pennington went to Worthington High School and played in the first high school hockey game in school history in 1975. He played on the Ohio State club hockey team from 1978-1980. Coach Pennington was also the previous President of the local youth hockey organization, CAHA.

Coach Jones is in his second year with the Orange hockey program. He has played high school hockey, AAA hockey, and played on the Kent State club hockey team. Coach Jones has been coaching since 2005 and has coached the Columbus Capitals and the CCYHA Blue Jackets.

Eric Ressler (#22) is the son of Lynn Ressler and began playing hockey when he was 11 years old. Before joining the Pioneers, he played with CAHA and on the Columbus North Stars. After graduation, Eric intends on attending college to study architecture. Outside of hockey, he also enjoys snowboarding. His favorite hockey memory is winning the Columbus Blue Jacket Cup two years in a row. Eric would like to thank his mom for always putting up with the costs of hockey and the constant travel. He would also like to thank his coaches for helping him improve every time he stepped on the ice.

Tyler White (#28) is the son of Jon and Laura White. Tyler began skating when he was 4 years old and started playing ice hockey when he was 5. He played travel

hockey until he joined the Pioneers 4 years ago. After graduation, Tyler plans on attending college in the fall. He has been a scholar athlete for 4 years and a varsity letter winner for 3 years. His most memorable moment is beating Jerome in the District Championship and getting to play in the Final 4. Tyler would like to give a special thanks to both of his parents and to his coaches for always believing in him and pushing him to constantly improve. He

couldn’t have done it without you.

Clay Horvath (#39) is the son of George and Susan Horvath and is nicknamed “el matador”. Clay started playing hockey when he was 3 years old and began playing goalie at age 6. Along with his time at OOHS, he has also played in CCYHA, and travel hockey with Parma Heights, the Cleveland Barons, the Youngstown

Phantoms, the AAA Blue Jackets, and for Team Ohio.

Clay would like to play Junior Hockey after he graduates and “Live the Dream”. Outside of hockey, he enjoys playing “the beautiful game”. Clay’s most memorable moment was defeating Dublin Jerome in the 2012 District

Championship to win a spot in the Frozen Four. Clay would like to thank his mother and father for the incredible amount

of time and money they’ve given to let him play hockey. Without them, he would have missed out on playing the game he loves.

Mitch Knapp (#23) is the son of Jamie and Christine Knapp. Mitch began playing hockey when he was 7 years old and played with Jake Potts and Chris Pennington on his first team. He played AAA hockey for 5 years before joining the Pioneers. Mitch plans on living on Ohio State’s campus and attending THE Columbus State Community College. Go Cougars! He is a member of

the National Honor Society and is also active in Young Life with Vinnie Posteraro. Seeing all of his friends and family fill the stands every game are great memories for Mitch. He would like to thank his parents for letting him do what he loves, especially with the countless weekends of travel over the years.
