This year we will be celebrating our Multicultural Day on Wednesday, the 11th of September. The aim is to celebrate our diverse world, in particular the 35 cultures represented at our school. Our students will experience watching a Cultural Dance performance presented by Australian Vietnamese Arts celebrating multiculturalism. They will also participate in a variety of exciting activities acknowledging different cultures. We are encouraging all our students to wear their traditional clothes/costumes or bring something that represents their

culture on the day. Please don’t forget to fill in the permission form and return it with the payment to your children’s teachers as soon as possible so that your children won’t miss out on this wonderful celebration. Thank you for your cooperation. Thu Cao—Languages Specialist

The 3/4 Team has had a busy start to Term 3!

We have worked hard in Reading to practice our summarising skills and use our own

words to share the main idea of a text - our next topic will be about learning to make

reasonable inferences using the clues in the text.

In Maths we have spent a great deal of time practicing

strategies which will help improve our ability to complete

addition and subtraction problems - a BIG thank-you to

our parents and older siblings who have helped their 3/4

relative practice these strategies at home and return our Maths Homework

Bags promptly.

In Integrated Studies, our students have been investigating what it is like to

put ourselves in another person’s shoes as we discuss fairness and equity in

our school, the community and wider world we live in.

Earn and Learn is well underway - how wonderful

it has been to see our 3/4s working hard to

complete their jobs and earn school money to

spend at Market Day in Term 4!

Sunshine North has many wonderful enrichment programs and opportunities for student involvement which contribute to their rich and well rounded learning experience at SNPS. The programs we offer are: Visual Arts, Physical Education and Sports, Performing Arts, Languages (Vietnamese), the Kitchen Garden Program, Breakfast Club, S.R.C, the Rainbow Room, and SPARKS just to name a few.

LEARNING AND BEHAVIOURAL VALUES 2019 Our Core Values are statements of belief about attitudes, skills, and approaches to learning that we want

to foster in our students. They are intended to permeate and to be reflected by every aspect of school life,

in and out of the classroom, as well as home and community life.

In addition, they can be seen as broad statements of purpose that focus the school’s energies in curriculum,

programs, and policies.

Sunshine North Primary prides itself on being a safe and happy learning environment. Every 2 weeks we focus on a particular value that contributes to this.

FOCUSED

What does it mean to Be Focused? Putting your full attention on your important goals and committing to tasks in the classroom by staying focused and separating yourself from distractions will lead to success.

Students being Focused say: “We have to stay on task.” “I will not let the person that I’m sitting next to distract me from doing my work.” “If I’m not sure of something, I will ask questions and clarify what I’m doing.” “I will choose a quiet place to work where students won’t distract me.”

How do you know you are being Focused? Do you make sure you don’t have things around you that will distract you from doing your work? Do you make sure you sit next to someone who won’t talk and distract you from your work? Do you commit to a task and keep focussed to finish it on time? Do you seek help and ask questions about the task to understand what you're doing?

Thank you for everybody’s support to make our book character dress up a HUGE success. Everybody had a fun day celebrating National Book Week. This year’s theme is ‘Reading is my Super Power’. All students have been celebrating the short listed books in class this week. A student from each class won the book award for best book character costume. Check out some of the photos:
