NAME: Rita Barry
Wisner Twp. (plan G4121) - 4 Claims No. S.1095170 to S.1095173 inSouth Half of Lot l Con. Five
LOCATION 6 ACCESS:
The four contiguous claims are located in the South half of Lot l, Concession Five in Wisner Township about 5 rail miles North of the town of Capreol, Ontario. The property may also be accessed by driving approximately six miles North of Capreol on Hoose Mountain Road and West on a bush road to the Vermillion River. The river can be crossed by canoe to reach the work area.
CHANGES TO PROPOSED PROJECT: None
GEOLOGY:
The area worked consisted of three rock trenches blasted into bedrock 50 metres apart and connected by a picket line/22 metres in length run in a Southwesterly direction (20 0 W. of S) from a rockcut located on the C.N.R. Rail Line (see sketch).
The strike was followed by prospecting the rockcut (highest CU/Ni assay) and running a picket line along the strike until the rock outcrop was covered by heavy overburden.
The outcrop area was largely intrusives, mainly granitic feldspars with quartz veinlets with tongues of norite. The norite tongues have quartz j feldspar stringers interspiced throughout and contain highly disseminated sulphides (pyrrhotite and pentlandite) consistent in both trenches.
The highest copper assay was a grab sample taken at the rockcut (0-0: * . 407 Cu) . The mineralization occurred consistently as highly disseminated sulphides. The sulphides sometimes appeared in small blebs, and only occasionally massive.
WORK DONE:
Prospecting was done mainly on the West side of the Vermillion River along the claim lines and the various outcrops throughout, as well as along the rockcuts on the C.N.R. Rail Line.
Mineralization was encountered at the rockcut in Claim No. 1095172 and a picket line was run along the strike S.W. for a distance of 122 metres until the outcrop disappeared under heavy
overburden. Two major areas were stripped with a backhoe (timberjack attachment) at 50 metres South and at 104 metres South of the rockcut. Two rock trenches were drilled and blasted at area fi and one rock trench drilled and blasted at area /2.
The trenches were grab sampled and sent for assays (see attached certificates).
Stripping was done manually and by a timber j ack/skidder with a backhoe attachment. Drilling was done by a gas plugger using chisel steel and trenches were cleaned by backhoe and manually.
Line cutting was only done to tie in stripping and trenching and to follow the strike of the mineralized zone. All proposed work for 1991 was completed and no additional claimstaking occurred.
RESULTS AMD RECOMMENDATIONS:
This area has had no previous stripping or trenching and while the relatively shallow surface trenches did yield some Cu/Ni/Au assays, perhaps greater values may occur in different areas and could be traced by cutting a grid and performing instrument surveys. All samples assayed did show Cu/Ni and some gold and should be followed up with a more intensive investigation.
