bull In 2010 Australian Liam Wyatt became the first Wikipedian in Residence when he volunteered at the British Museum for a period of five weeks rdquoWe are doing the same thing for the same reason for the same people in the same medium Lets do it together

bull Wikimedia UK supported its first Wikimedian in Residence project at the British Library in 2012 The project facilitated the re-use of the collections in a number of areas from digitising and releasing thousands of images of Canada creating scores of articles about Chinese Archaeology and training over 400 staff academics and members of the public

bull Promotes understanding of Wikimedia among staff

bull Formally coordinated by the institution allowing the resident to work closely with staff for various projects

bull Steered by Wikimedia UK Wales Manager Robin Owain and a strong and committed Welsh Wikipedia community supported by Swansea University and the National Library of Wales

bull The Welsh Wikipedia currently has nearly 90000 articles and is ranked 60th largest out of a total of 284 language Wikipedias all over the world

bull December 2016 9312 biographies on women and 8123 of men on Welsh Wikipedia (up from 32 in June 2016)

bull ldquoThe number of biographies is now balanced which is a big achievement for a small Wikipedia but we now need to look at other factors such as increasing the content of articles from being male orientated to being more balanced and gender neutralrdquo - Robin Owain

bull In 2010 Australian Liam Wyatt became the first Wikipedian in Residence when he volunteered at the British Museum for a period of five weeks rdquoWe are doing the same thing for the same reason for the same people in the same medium Lets do it together

bull Wikimedia UK supported its first Wikimedian in Residence project at the British Library in 2012 The project facilitated the re-use of the collections in a number of areas from digitising and releasing thousands of images of Canada creating scores of articles about Chinese Archaeology and training over 400 staff academics and members of the public
