INTRODUCTION

The12thFestivalofBoccali(WineCups),anartisticwineandfoodeventcreatedandorganisedbythevolunteerassociationHumusOnluswillbeheldon23September2017,tomarktheoccasionofEuropeanHeritageDaywhichisbeingpromotedbytheMinistryofFineArts,CulturalactivitiesandTourism.Forover18yearsHumusOnlushasnurturedthetraditionofceramicartasameansofcommunicationandsocialization,culturalsolidarityanddevelopmentaswellassocialintegration.

Intheuniquetimelesssetting,suspendedbetweenseaandsky,VillaGuarigliahostsandhighlightsthecollectiveexhibition,whichrenewstheunionofthevoluntarysector,artandculture.AttentiontoothersandsolidaritymakeuptheDNAoftheVolunteerAssociationofHumus:oldandnewartists,thedifferentlyabledandvolunteerscometogetherwithonevoicetoemphaticallyconfirmtheimportanceofthevolunteeringsectorandtoemphasisehowartcanbeameansofcommunity-building,supportanddevelopment.100artistsareinvolvedand700winecupspromoteinnovativecreativity.

Thenoveltyelementinthisyear'seditionistheextensionoftheinvitationtoforeignartiststopromoteartisticmobilityaroundtheworld.Thusartistsofanynationality,ageandreligioncantakepartintheeventbyregisteringandcreating7winecupsof12cminheight,decoratedastheywish.ThesewillbedisplayedinthegroupexhibitionofwinecupsdecoratedbyMastersofCeramicArt,volunteersandyoungpeopleintheAssociation.Oneofthe7winecupscreatedwillremainpartofthepermanentcollectionoftheHumusOnlusAssociationwhichisperiodicallydisplayed.

AThewinecupsareusedtoraisefundsneededfortheactivitiesofthevolunteerassociationHUMUSdedicatedtothedifferentlyabledandelderly.Acharityauctionofwinecup

masterpieces,selectedbyacommitteeofjudges,willbeorganised.ThewinecupsareusedtotastewinewhichaccompaniestypicallocalSalernitanadishes.

Theevent,promotedbytheProvincialAdministrationandsupportedbytheCityCouncilofSalernoincollaborationwiththeCeramicsMuseumofRaitoinVietrisulMare,theCreativeCityMuseumofSalerno,ArtsTrustsofSalernoandAvellinoandMastersofCeramicArtstartsat7pmandentranceisfree.

Theevening'sprogramme,presentedbyNunziaSchiavoneincludes:-WelcomeandopeningremarksbyLaurettaLaureti,PresidentoftheVolunteerAssociation,HumusOnlus-Conference-AuctionofArtMastersWinecups-Foodandwinetasting

Theevening'seventswillbeenlivenedbylivemusicandthecookingandcateringserviceswillbeprovidedbytheProfessionalHotelInstituteR.VirtuosoofSalerno.

Dinneriscomplimentaryforallartists.Theworkscanbeviewedonthewebsiteoftheassociationandanon-linecatalogueoftheFestivalofWineCups2017willbecreated.BedandBreakfastaccommodationforvisitingartistsincanbearrangedataspecialpriceof£25anight.ForeignartistsareentitledtoafreevisittotheCeramicsMuseumofRaito.

Regulations of the 12th annual FESTA DEI BOCCALI (Festival of the Wine Cups), Villa Guariglia, Raito Art.1. The volunteer association HUMUS announces the12th annual Festa dei Boccali (Festival of the Wine Cups) in Villa Guariglia, Raito with the collaboration of the Provincial Administration, the Ceramics Museum of Raito, the Creative City Museum of Salerno and the patronage of the Salerno city council and the Masters of Ceramic Art. The Festival starts at 7 pm and entrance is free. Art.2. Artists are invited to create wine cups of 12 cm in height and decorated as they wish as a donation to the Association HUMUS. These will be used to raise funds needed for the activity of the association which is composed of volunteers working with the differently abled and the elderly. Art.3. Both Italian and foreign artists can participate in the 12th annual Festa dei Boccali. Art.4. The wine cups can be made of any kind of ceramic material using any technique. Participants must declare that the wine cups presented are original works of art which have not been exhibited before and that nobody can exercise rights over them.

Art.5. One of the 7 wine cups created will become part of the permanent collection of the Association Humus Onlus which is exhibited periodically. Art. 6. A jury composed of illustrious artists and leading Italian cultural figures will select the masterpiece wine cups which are then used in the auction for charity. Art.7. The wine cups presented to the exhibition must all be legibly signed by the artist. Art.8. All wine cups presented will be exhibited in the 12th annnual Festa dei Boccali (Festival of Wine Cups) in the historical residence of Villa Guariglia, Raito where visitors can admire and purchase them with all proceeds going to charity. The wine cups are later used for tasting wine served with traditional local Salernitana dishes and so the inside of the wine cup must be decorated with material which compatible with beverage consumption. Art.9. Artists wishing to participate in the 12th Annual Festa dei Boccali must send their application to the organizing committee by the 15/08/2017 with the following: a) Brief curriculum vitae of 300 letters in English or Italian b) 2 photos in Jpeg format 300 dpi of the wine cup intended to form part of the collection from 2 angles ( front and lateral) 1 photo in Jpeg format 300 dpi of all 7 wine cups with the files labelled with the author's name. c) Photo/picture of the artist. Art.10. The wine cups must reach the CREATIVE CITY MUSEUM, via di OGLIARA 143, 84135 SALERNO, ITALY before 30 August 2017. They must be packaged carefully and sent by post or authorised courier. The shipping costs must be met by the artist. The museum is open from Monday to Friday from 8:30-13:30 and from 16:00-18:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thusday. The 12th annual FESTA dei BOCCALI will be held on Saturday, 23rd September,2017. Art..11. We take no responsibility for any damage incured to wine cups during transport. The organisation aims to ensure careful surveillance during the exhibition but cannot accept responsibility for any damage, theft or acts of vandalism. Art.12. The organisation produces an on-line catalogue which will be sent to the participating artists. All artists are offered a complimentary dinner and foreign artists are entitled to a free visit to the CERAMICS MUSEUM OF RAITO. Bed and Breakfast accommodation for visiting artists can be arranged at a special price of £25 a night. The works can be viewed on the association website and an on-line catalogue of the Festa dei Boccali 2017 will be created.
