OPEN POSITION: RCDD Structured Cabling Professional

JOB DESCRIPTIONl

Uni-Tel Group is currently seeking an RCDD/ Structured Cabling Professional to plan and coordinate activities of sub-contractors to ensure effective and efficient installation and maintenance of network-wide data cabling as well as a secure and reliable environment for the operation of network equipment. To this end, supports the delivery of construction services as well as outside contracted work in compliance with safety and industry standards, government regulations, and established procedure. Evaluates and coordinates facilities support for all networks in Co-Lo facility

• In consultation with IT and Design project managers, plans and coordinates installation of low voltage wiring and fiber plant.

• In consultation with IT and Design project managers, implements appropriate environmental support for data center build out.

• Reviews and gets familiar with cabling and network gear requirements for new installation at Co-Lo. Reviews budgets, schedules and plans for the project, reviews all work for adherence to standards. Verifies that all equipment and materials are available, including racks, panels, wire management, cables, etc. Monitors performance of contractors to ensure work is completed in a timely manner and to project standards. Contributes to innovative solutions essential in meeting client due dates. Provides technical support.

• Works, both hands-on and by providing guidance to network engineers, to ensure cable management throughout all network facilities is done in accordance with industry and project best practices.

• Reviews all aspects of the structured cable plant. Contributes to standards for relevant documentation and labeling.

• Implements project standards concerning low voltage wiring installations.

• Performs other job related duties as assigned.

• In depth knowledge of structured copper and fiber optic cabling (voice & data). Familiarity with network topologies, and IP network protocols preferred

Required Skills

• 3-5 years’ experience in cabling projects design and implementation, including diagnostic metrics and best practices training

• In depth knowledge of cabling (voice & data)

• Data center, IT A/V, and other structured cabling design

• Strong hands-on knowledge of multiple aspects of Telecom Room facilities, hardware, services, and vendors

• Exceptional communication skills

Education / Certification:

• Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification, in good standing

• Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) Certification preferred

• Bachelor's Degree Preferred
