I think this is an interesting idea: To use those open structures like modular and reusable parts to extend the life and use of existing packaging. When you start to think about possibilities for less packaging waste the idea of an extended family of reusable food containers combined with a deposit system comes up relatively quickly. One of the problems for such a system would be, that you don’t just have to design, build and establish the containers but also a whole infrastructure for taking them back and redistribute them. Huge complexity and costs!  But if you use modular parts like the ones in the picture you don’t need to build the taking back system. The parts are modular and reusable and creative minds will come up with an ever growing list of ideas and possibilities how to use them. Therefore a market for the reselling of them can emerge. Some people will use them

to build furniture, some for houses, some for toys, some …. for resell them to packaging manufacturers. They work like a currency. The taking back system can be build and emerge decentralized.  The idea is of course not complete yet. But maybe a great start, trace or question for further thinking. “Imagine there would be a law, that all packaging would have to be made out of pure gold. Noone would throw anything away!”

BemerkungIch mag die Idee und finde sie sehr interessant: Modulare, wiederverwendbare (Open Structures-artige) Teile zu verwenden, um die Nutzung und das Leben existierender Verpackungen zu erweitern. Denkt man über Möglichkeiten für das Vermeiden von Verpackungsmüll nach, kommt relativ bald die Idee für ein umfassendes Pfandbehältersystem für alle Lebensmittel auf – nicht nur Flaschen und Joghurtgläser sondern auch Käse- oder Wurstdosen usw. müsste man zurückgeben, reinigen und neu nutzen.  Eines der Probleme mit so einem System wäre, dass man nicht nur die Behälter erfinden und produzieren müsste, sondern auch ein ganzes Rücknahmesystem. Infrastruktur von enormer Komplexität und mit enormen Kosten!  Würde man aber modulare Teile verwenden wie in den Bildern, braucht man kein Rücknahmesystem zu bauen. Die Teile sind

wiedernutzbar für vielerlei. Kreative Köpfe würden eine immer weiter wachsende Liste von Verwendungsmöglichkeiten dafür erfinden – Möbel, Spielzeug, Häuser, neue Verpackungshilfen etc. Ein Markt für die Teile kann so entstehen – für die Weiternutzung. Die Teile funktionieren wie eine Währung. Das Rücknahmesystem könnte sich dezentral und von alleine herausbilden.  Die Idee oder das Konzept ist natürlich nicht vollständig bisher. Aber vielleicht ein interessanter Anfang bzw. eine Spur oder Frage fürs Weiterdenken. “Stell dir vor, alle Verpackungen wären aus Gold, niemand würde sie je wegwerfen!”
